Witness and Hope
 
Witness and Hope is a photographic exhibit that bears witness to the atrocities that took place in Israel on October 7, 2023 and its aftermath, as seen through the lens of those in the Richmond, Virginia community who visited Israel post October 7th.  The exhibit’s goal is to bear witness to the October 7th atrocities, as well to the aftermath of events, memorials, emotions, reliance and hope.  The witness and Hope exhibit will be on display in the Sara D. November Gallery of the Weinstein JCC from September 19, 2024-Oct 24, 2025.  
Please review the criteria for submission below. Participant’s submission of images will imply agreement with the criteria.
Criteria for Submission:
*Please register on this site to submit images through this ArtCall website.
*Photographers of all levels may submit up to 8 images for consideration.
*Submitted photos must have been taken in Israel, post 10/7/23, by the submitting participant.
*A short commentary (no more than 8 sentences) describing each image should be included in the ‘description’ area of each image submission. The description will be displayed in part or in its entirety for each accepted image.
*Only images submitted by Friday, August 16, 2024 can be considered for inclusion in the Witness and Hope exhibit.
*Participants will be notified of the acceptance of submitted images via email no later than Friday, August 23, 2024.
*Please note that an emailed high resolution JPEG of accepted images may be requested.
*Participants give their consent to the Weinstein JCC to print and display accepted images for use in the Witness and Hope gallery exhibit and for marketing purposes.
*Participants give their consent for their accepted images to be sold during the exhibit with proceeds donated to benefit Israeli programming at the Weinstein JCC.
*Participants agree to share promotional emails, social media posts and printed marketing with contacts in the community, encouraging attendance to the exhibit, especially the opening reception on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
*Participants agree to attend the opening reception of the Witness and Hope exhibit on Thursday, September 19 at 7pm in the Sara D. November Gallery of the Weinstein JCC.
*Participants agree to speak about their accepted photograph(s) at the opening reception if asked.
