REIMAGINEA Woman's Caucus for Art Open Members Exhibition

Featuring work by members of the New Hampshire Chapter of the Women’s Caucus for Art, inthis exhibition artists explore how they might (re)imagine a sustainable future by reusing,recycling, repurposing, and reclaiming materials and ideas.

DEADLINE:   January 2, 2024 or when 55 works have been received or whichever comes first.SHOW DATES: January 22, 2024 – February 20, 2024ARTIST RECEPTION: Saturday, January 27, 2024, 2:00 pm-4:00 pm

 

Artists are invited to submit up to three (3) entries. At least one entry from each artist will beincluded in the final exhibition. The Director of the Museum of the White Mountains will curatethe exhibition with a focus on inclusion and fit with the exhibition theme. The exhibit willinclude no more than 50 artists.  Note: You may submit your work early before it is complete.Entries must be edited and finalized by the deadline Jan. 2, 2024                                                                                                                                                                 
Each member of WCA/NH may invite one non-member woman artist whose work fits the theme to enter this call. 

Prompt for Artists: How does your work connect with the theme of the exhibition? How do you reuse, recycle, repurpose, and reclaim materials and/or ideas in your creative practice? How does your work (re)imagine a sustainable future? Please include 75-100 words along with your submission. We will include this brief statement on the label for your work.

A further elaboration of the Prompt:   Do you destroy old works and incorporate them into new work? Do you use art materials that have been given to you that might otherwise end up in a landfill? Do you re-purpose things lying around your home or studio? Do you revisit old ideas or half-finished work?

About the Silver Center: since it opened its doors in 1992, their mission has been to engage,educate, serve, and support the students of Plymouth State University in the study,performance and appreciation of the performing arts. As the major cultural arts center incentral New Hampshire, the Silver Center also serves as an arts presenter that provides a rich,rewarding cultural experience for students, faculty, staff, and the public at large. The SilverCenter presents guest artists whose work reflects the best in American and world cultures. Thisexhibition is coordinated by the Museum of the White Mountains at Plymouth State University.
 

ELIGIBILITY: You must be a current dues paying member of WCA/NH artist to enter thisexhibition. Current members may invite one woman artist non-member guest to enter.ARTWORK SPECIFICATIONS: Work should be framed and ready to hang with a wire. Clip-onframes, saw-tooth and keyhole hangers will NOT be accepted. The gallery can accommodateseveral three-dimensional pieces in museum-quality locked cases. The dimensions are notlimited by length but should only be about 24 inches tall and 12 inches deep. Handmade booksand small sculptures would be appropriate. The Director of the Museum of the WhiteMountains reserves the right to refuse installation of any work that is not appropriate for aprofessional exhibition at the Silver Center Lobby Gallery or does not meet the statedguidelines.
 ENTRY PROCESS: ArtCall will be used for submissions. We will begin accepting entries on November 15, 2023,and will close submissions upon receiving entries from 50 artists or January 2, 2024, whichevercomes first. You will be notified about acceptance into the exhibition by midnight on January 5, 2024.
FEES:  Each artist will be required to pay a single flat fee of $20.00 for up to three works submitted.
Non-member guest artist will be required to pay a single flat fee of $25.00 for up to three works.
INSURANCE: All work on display will be covered by Plymouth State University’s insurance.
SALES: The Silver Center will not be involved in sales of your work. A gallery sheet will be available atthe show and if an interested party inquires, they will contact the artist directly.
