The Monotype Guild of New England
invites members in good standing
to submit ONE monotype or monoprint
for an exhibition at the Rhode Island Watercolor Society.
This exhibit is NOT JURIED. Every entering member artist
will have one print hung. There will be a total of 65 prints
in the show.
The Rhode Island Watercolor Society is one of the oldest watercolor organizations in
America. Their gallery, located in the JC Potter Casino Building, is a historic lakeside boathouse
in Slater Memorial Park, features an art gallery, library and studio space. They host frequent
shows each year including a National Water Media Competition.
Gallery Hours: Thursday + Friday, 10am-4pm; Saturday: 10am-3pm.
ELIGIBILITY:
• Your Monotype Guild membership must be up-to-date and in good standing to participate.
• All prints must be either monotypes or monoprints.
• Submitted work cannot have been shown at an earlier MGNE exhibit.
Please read the following definitions to be sure that your work is eligible:
• A monotype is made by drawing, painting or inking on a surface and transferring the image
to a sheet of paper. The image is not repeatable.
• A monoprint contains lines or images that can be repeated exactly, from one
impression to the next, such as etched lines, a linocut or a lithograph. The artist
varies the inking, composition or other elements to create an unrepeatable unique print.

MGNE MEMBERSHIP:
MGNE is open to all artists working in the medium of one-of-a-kind prints. There is no jurying requirement for membership. To join MGNE, follow this link: www.mgne.org/membership *If your membership expired over a year ago, please contact members@mgne.org for renewal.
Otherwise, the Membership Planet platform may charge you for the years your membership was expired.
ENTRY FEE:
There will be a $35 fee to submit one work of art for each MGNE member.
ENTRY PROCESS:
We will begin accepting entries on Friday, March 27, and will close submissions upon receiving 65 entries...
OR... by midnight on Friday, April 10, 2026, whichever comes first.
ArtCall enables changes to your submission after payment is received until the call is closed.
Submissions will be reviewed by MGNE exhibition committee to confirm eligibility.
REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants can submit only one entry. Work should be framed and ready to hang with a wire.
Clip-on frames, saw-tooth and keyhole hangers will NOT be accepted. There is a size limit of 42" framed width.
The gallery cannot accommodate sculptures or other three-dimensional installations, including artist books.
Collaborative works should be submitted only once under one artist’s name and all collaborative parties names
listed under the art-making description section.
The gallery director and MGNE reserves the right to refuse installation of any work that is not appropriate for a
professional exhibition or does not meet the stated guidelines.
IMAGES:
Digital image files must be print quality. Only JPEG format files will be accepted.
JPEGs should be sized to 1920 pixels on the longest side at 300 dpi.
By entering this exhibition, each artist grants consent to MGNE for the reproduction, publication
and distribution of submitted images of artwork for use of promotion and educational purposes.
INSURANCE:
MGNE volunteers and the RIWS staff will handle your work with the care and respect that
they accord their own work. RIWS and MGNE do not carry insurance for the period of time
your work is at the gallery.
RELEASE:
By submitting artwork, the artist agrees that MGNE and RIWS, their members, staff and/or volunteers
will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to entrants’ work while being transported, stored,
hung, exhibited, taken down or otherwise handled during the course of this exhibition.
All work will be treated with respect and care.
SALES:
RIWS will process sales and distribute the funds to the Artist. No commissions will be taken by the gallery or MGNE.
However, the Artist will be responsible for any credit card fees incurred for sales of artwork in the exhibition.
NON-RETRIEVAL OF ART:
Submitted artwork must be retrieved from the exhibition space on the dates stated in the prospectus
by the artist or by a designated representative. Work that is not retrieved following the exhibition
will be disposed of. MGNE is not responsible for the retrieval, storage or delivery of unclaimed work.
Please remember that MGNE does not own or lease exhibition or storage space and does not carry insurance
to cover damage or loss of submitted artwork.
DELIVERY + SHIPPING:
All work must be received by Thursday, April 23, 10am-4pm.
• Hand Delivery will take place during gallery open hours at Slater Memorial Park, 831 Armistice Blvd., Pawtucket, RI 02861, on the dates of Friday, April 17, Saturday, April 18, and Thursday, April 23, 10am-3pm.
• Shipped Work must be received at The Rhode Island Watercolor Society, Slater Memorial Park, 831 Armistice Blvd., Pawtucket, RI 02861, by Thursday, April 23, 2026.
• Additional shipping and delivery details will be sent to you via email upon acceptance of your work.
• Shipped work will be returned shortly after the exhibit is taken down provided that you have included a return shipping label with your package.
By submitting work to this show, the artist is agreeing to delivery of the accepted work within the timeline
and instructions outlined in this prospectus. No artwork may be removed before the close of the exhibition
on May 22, 2026.Drop-off Dates:
