Transformative Impressions
Richard Black International Juried Print Exhibition
The theme of the first Richard Black Juried Print Exhibition is transformation through print. We invite artists to submit work that explores the boundaries of the printmaking medium. The exhibition will be juried by Raluca Iancu and Sang Lee.
The exhibition will be held at the Anderson Gallery at Drake University, 1310 25th Street, Des Moines, IA 50311, USA. It will run from February 5 through March 13, 2026. The Opening Reception and Award Ceremony will be held on Thursday February 5, 2026, 5-7 pm. Awards ceremony at 6 pm. We encourage artists to attend and invite their family and friends. About the Jurors:Raluca Iancu is an Associate Professor of Art & Visual Culture (Printmaking) at Iowa State University. She holds a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and an MFA from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her multidisciplinary practice explores themes of disaster, memory, and vulnerability through printmaking, performance, edible art, and installation. ralu.ca
Sang Eun Lee (Sang) is an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Drake University, where she teaches all levels of graphic design courses. Her research focuses on advancing inclusive design practices in education through intersectional and user-centered approaches. She holds an MFA in Graphic Design from Iowa State University, an MFA in Printmaking from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and a BFA from the Columbus College of Art and Design.
SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE BY DECEMBER 15 AT 11:59 PM. All entries must be submitted through ArtCall.org.
Artists may submit up to three works.
â–ºNOTIFICATION
Artists will be notified as to whether they have been accepted or not via email by January 7.
â–º DELIVERY OF WORK
Accepted works must be delivered by January 28. Works can be dropped off in person on Tuesday Jan 27 between 12-4 pm or Thursday Jan 28 between 9 am - noon in the Anderson Gallery. If shipping work, they must be received by January 28 and come packed with a pre-paid return shipping label.
All works must be exhibition ready and presented professionally. We reserve the right to not include a work if it arrives in a way that is not exhibition ready or if it dramatically differs from the photos in the submission.
