Singular and Unique AN OPEN MEMBERS’ HYBRID EXHIBITION

VIRTUAL RECEPTION: Thursday, November 5, 2026, 7-8:30pmThe exhibit will consist of both a digital 3D virtual gallery and 60 works exhibited at the Menino Arts Center.The Monotype Guild of New England invites members in good standing to submit up to TWO monotypes or monoprints for an exhibition at the Menino Arts Center in Boston, MA.This exhibit is NOT JURIED. Selection of works will be curated by the MGNE Exhibitions team.This is a hybrid exhibition, combining an online 3D virtual gallery on the Menino Arts Center website, along with a selection of up to 60 works to be exhibited in person. The Menino Arts Center (MAC) is run by the Hyde Park Art Association. The MAC serves the neighborhood of Hyde Park, Greater Boston and its suburban counterparts. With over 4000 square feet of space, the MAC is home to a large teaching classroom, seven affordable artist studios, three galleries, an auditorium and the organization’s offices. The mission of the HPAA is to support local artists, make cultural opportunities accessible to families, students, and seniors who may not otherwise have the means to participate; enrich community life, serve as a unifying force in the neighborhood; and help create a more vibrant commercial district.
Gallery Hours: Wednesday + Thursday, 1-4pm; Friday: 10am-4pm.
ELIGIBILITY:
• Your Monotype Guild membership must be up-to-date and in good standing to participate.
• All prints must be either monotypes or monoprints.
• Submitted work cannot have been shown at an earlier MGNE exhibit.
Please read the following definitions to be sure that your work is eligible:
• A monotype is made by drawing, painting or inking on a surface and transferring the image
to a sheet of paper. The image is not repeatable.
• A monoprint contains lines or images that can be repeated exactly, from one
impression to the next, such as etched lines, a linocut or a lithograph. The artist
varies the inking, composition or other elements to create an unrepeatable unique print.

MGNE MEMBERSHIP:
MGNE is open to all artists working in the medium of one-of-a-kind prints. There is no jurying requirement for membership. To join MGNE, follow this link: www.mgne.org/membership *If your membership expired over a year ago, please contact members@mgne.org for renewal.
Otherwise, the Membership Planet platform may charge you for the years your membership was expired.
ENTRY FEE:
There will be a $35 fee to submit up to two work of art for each MGNE member. Submission Fees are non-refundable.
ENTRY PROCESS:We will begin accepting entries on Wednesday, July 8, and will close submissions at midnight on Sunday, August 2, 2026.Collaborative works should be submitted only once under one artist’s name and all collaborative parties’ names listed under the art-making description section.In this hybrid exhibition, all artists that submit work will have one work included in the digital exhibition. If more than one work is submitted by artist, the exhibition team will curate which of your artwork will be selected. The exhibition curatorial team will alsp select up to 60 works from the submissions to be exhibited in-person at the Menino Arts Center Gallery.
REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants can submit up to two entries. Art may be either 2-D or 3-dimensional. Three-dimensional work and artist books will be accepted to be displayed on pedestals.Please contact the Exhibitions Committee to consult on any unframed and/or large sculptural works at exhibitions@mgne.org.2-D Artwork Requirements:Maximum size for framed artwork is Height 40″ x Width 40.″ Two-dimensional work should be framed and ready to hang with a wire. The MAC Gallery hanging system requires the work to be framed EXACTLY as indicated. Please redo previously wired work as required. See below for instructions and link to further guidelines. 3-D Artwork Requirements:Three-dimensional work and artist books will be accepted to be displayed on pedestals.Please contact the MGNE Exhibitions Committee to consult on installation restrictions and guidelines for unframed and/or large sculptural works at exhibitions@mgne.org.MAC and MGNE reserves the right to refuse installation of any work that is not appropriate for a professional exhibition, does not meet requirements for framing and wiring, or does not meet the stated guidelines.
MAC GALLERY FRAME AND WIRE REQUIREMENTS:Detailed Instructions: https://mgne.org/mac-framing-g... All artwork will be inspected at drop-off or when received by mail. Any framed work not wired to MAC Gallery hanging system requirements will not be displayed. Rewired frames will be at the cost of the artist. • All 2D work must be properly framed and wired.• The screw eyes with wire should be placed as close to the top of the frame as possible, at least within the top 1/8, (NOT 1/3) from the top of the frame.• Try to wire with a D-ring if possible. They lay flatter, or put your screw-eyes on the inside of the stretcher.• The wire and 1.5" hanging hook must not extend above the top of the piece when hung. Take excess slack out of wire if needed. • No sawtooth hangers.• Frames must be sturdy and in good hanging condition.• Glass and mats must be clean and free of finger prints.IF YOUR WORK IS NOT PROPERLY FRAMED OR WIRED YOU WILL BE ASKED TO REFRAME THEM OR REWIRE THEM AT DROPOFF.
DIGITAL EXHIBITION: The Menino Arts Center will create a 3D gallery powered by Kunstmatrix. IMAGES:
Submitted jpg image files will be used for exhibit in the Online 3-D Virtual Gallery. The specifications listed must be followed: All jpgs must show only the artwork properly cropped and perfectly rectangular. No jpg with artworks showing the mat or frame will be accepted. Please look closely at your jpg before submitting. Check to see that no background or white edge is showing. For 3-D work the background has to be a solid, clean and neutral color.Digital image files must be print quality. Only JPEG format files will be accepted. JPEGs should be sized to 1920 pixels on the longest side at 300 dpi. MAC and MGNE reserves the right to not accept and exhibit images in the digital exhibition and 3D virtual gallery that do not meet requirements.Image Upload Guidelines:1. Save entries as a jpeg at 1800 pixels on the longest side at 300 dpi.2. Name your jpeg entries: First Last Name_Title.jpg Example: John Brown_The Green Stripe.jpg3. The jpeg Title MUST match the Title of Entry #1, #2 etc. on ArtCall: Example: The Green Stripe 4. Please use upper and lower cases. 5. Retitle your jpgs prior to entering the ArtCall form.
IMAGES RELEASE:
Participating artists grants consent to MGNE and HPAA-MAC for the reproduction, publication and distribution of submitted images of artwork for use of promotion and educational purposes. By submitting artwork to this exhibition, each artist agrees to this statement.
INSURANCE:
Artwork is not insured by MGNE or HPAA-MAC during the exhibition. Adequate insurance is the sole responsibility of the artist. MGNE volunteers and the MAC staff will handle your work with the care and respect that they accord their own work.
INSURANCE RELEASE:
By submitting artwork, the artist agrees that MGNE and RIWS, their members, staff and/or volunteers
will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to entrants’ work while being transported, stored,
hung, exhibited, taken down or otherwise handled during the course of this exhibition.
All work will be treated with respect and care.
SALES:
Artwork may be for sale. If not for sale, please label NFS. If a piece is sold, the Hyde Park Art Association (HPAA) retains 30% of the sale price. Price your work accordingly.
NON-RETRIEVAL OF ART:
No artwork may be removed before the closure of the exhibition on November 20, 2026. Submitted artwork must be retrieved from the exhibition space on the dates stated in the prospectus by the artist or by a designated representative. MGNE and MAC are not responsible for the retrieval, storage or delivery of unclaimed work. Artwork that is not retrieved within 30-days after the close of the exhibition will be considered a donation to the Menino Arts Center and will be sold. Please remember that MGNE does not own or lease exhibition or storage space and does not carry insurance to cover damage or loss of submitted artwork.
DELIVERY + SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS:
All work must be received by noon on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.By submitting the work to this call, artist is agreeing to delivery of the accepted work within the timeline and instructions outlined in the Prospectus. Please label all artwork with your name and title of the piece. Whether hand delivered or shipped, the printed check-in label from ArtCall must be attached to back of the artwork. If the artwork becomes unavailable for exhibition, artist must notify Menino Arts Center and MGNE at least 3-weeks in advance to allow for other artists to participate in the exhibition. DELIVERY INSTRUCTIONS: Hand Delivery will take place at 26 Central Ave, Hyde Park, MA 02136 outside operating gallery hours listed below.
