Singing from the Heart

DESCRIPTION OF Singing from the Heart CONCERT
Celebrate Valentine’s weekend and the power of music through visual art inspired by a romantic concert program featuring mezzo-soprano Ariana Iñiguez and the Arizona Philharmonic String Quartet, with guest artist Steven Moeckel on first violin.
Musical highlights include Puccini’s O mio babbino caro, Bizet’s sultry Habanera from Carmen, and Bernstein’s poignant Somewhere from West Side Story, alongside expressive string quartet works by Mendelssohn, Dvořák, and former Prescottonian Mathew Lanning. Artists are invited to interpret music that moves the heart—across eras, styles, and cultures.
Art Theme: "Where Music Becomes Emotion: Art From The Heart"This exhibition invites artists to translate music into visual form—capturing the emotion, movement, and intimacy of sound. Inspired by romantic arias, chamber music, and songs of longing, artists are encouraged to paint what music feels like, rather than what it looks like.Through diverse mediums, we invite artists to interpret the rhythmic energy of music, the fluidity of sound waves, and the timeless beauty of classical forms reimagined in contemporary expression. Expect works that echo the tranquility of a minimalist prelude, the grandeur of Baroque structure, and the exhilarating spontaneity of jazz improvisation.Join us in this multi-sensory celebration, where brushstrokes, textures, and colors visually orchestrate the Rhythms of the Heart, an unforgettable musical experience.

Ideas to Inspire Your Creativity:
Artists are invited to create work inspired by the emotional power of music—love, longing, passion, and hope. Translate sound into visual form by exploring rhythm, movement, harmony, and the human voice. Works may be figurative, abstract, or symbolic, capturing how music feels rather than how it looks. Interpret romantic arias, expressive chamber music, or personal musical memories through color, texture, and composition.
Paint the emotional essence of love—tender, passionate, yearning, joyful, or bittersweet.
Ideas:

Abstract color fields inspired by vocal tones

Lovers separated by light, shadow, or distance

Musical notes dissolving into landscapes or figures

Inspired by Somewhere from West Side Story.
Ideas:

Dreamlike spaces filled with longing or anticipation

Urban vs. emotional landscapes

Figures gazing toward light, distance, or possibility
Paint sound as color, texture, and energy.

Synesthetic interpretations (how music looks)

Bold palettes responding to specific musical moods

Abstract compositions driven by tempo and intensity
