Juror/Judge
Michael Baggetta brings to the jury a distinguished creative career shaped by decades of drawing, painting, and professional design. An abstract expressionist painter, Baggetta is known for his richly layered surfaces and his poetic interplay of texture and color—an approach rooted in both formal art training and years as a leading Los Angeles–based art director and designer for major Hollywood studios. His creative path began in New Jersey and led him from early work with the development team for Tokyo Disneyland to graduating with honors from Art Center College of Design before founding Baggetta + Associates, a studio recognized for its influential visual work across film and media. After relocating to Portland, Oregon, Baggetta returned fully to painting, finding renewed inspiration in the region’s natural beauty and vibrant arts community. His award-winning work, exhibited and collected nationally, reflects a deep commitment to process, allowing spontaneity and intuition to guide each composition.
