Description
Passing Glance: Mixed Media with Photographic Elements or Sources
Juried by Nicole Lampl, Curator of American Art at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art
Do you create mixed media artworks with photographic elements? Printmaking from photographic sources? Or do you alter or embellish photographs with other media? How about weavings from photographic images? Then this call is for you! We are The Pollinator Art Space located in the Goat Farm Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia, and we are seeking two and three dimensional mixed media artworks that contain a photographic image or element. This could include: Multi layered printmaking with a screen print from a photograph, photolithograph, photo transfer, cyanotype, photo gravure, or actual photo applied like in a collage. A painting on paper or canvas that includes the photo based techniques mentioned above. Ceramics with photo transfers before or after a glaze. Sculptures with photographic elements attached or embedded. Or email us with questions if you have another variation of this media!
If your starting media is a photography, it must be altered to include other media. Collage with only photographs will not fit this call, but a photo collage that includes painting, drawing, applied printmaking prints would qualify. Think cyanotype with painting or drawing with it. Or a silver gelatin print or C-print altered or embellished with stitching, paint, drawing.
There are endless ways artists are making mixed media pieces with photographic elements and we would love to see yours!
Our juror is Nicole Lampl, the Curator of American Art at the Westmoreland Museum of Art outside of Pittsburg, PA. This recent press release from the museum describes her well: https://thewestmoreland.org/pr...
