Le Gâteau Gallery invites artists from around the world to submit their work for

THE FACE, an international exhibition exploring the portrait as a site of identity, expression, perception, and human connection.

The face is one of the most immediate and recognisable forms of human expression, yet it remains endlessly complex. It can reveal, conceal, distort, and transform. A portrait may serve as a reflection of the self, an interpretation of another, or an exploration of the boundaries between reality and imagination. Through the face, we encounter questions of identity, memory, emotion, beauty, vulnerability, and the ways in which we see and are seen.

For The Face, we invite artists to explore portraiture in its broadest sense. From intimate representations of the individual to experimental interpretations that challenge conventional ideas of the human visage, we welcome works that examine the face as both a physical presence and a powerful symbolic form.

Artists are encouraged to approach the theme freely, whether through traditional portraiture, abstraction, distortion, fragmentation, or entirely unconventional perspectives. We are interested in the familiar and the unfamiliar, the personal and the collective, and the many ways a face can communicate something beyond its surface.

Who do we become in the eyes of others? What can a face reveal that words cannot?

All mediums are welcome.
