Project Summary: Ohio University (OU) is inviting Ohio and national artists to submit up to nine (9) digital images of past work and resume/artist statement as a single PDF, for the Ohio University Chaddock + Morrow College of Fine Arts/Patton Center for Arts Education Percent for Art Project commission. From the submissions, a group of semi-finalists will be selected to visit the campus, meet with the committee (comprised of OU faculty and staff), and visit the artwork site location (virtually if needed) to create a site-specific artwork proposal. OU employees and their spouses are not eligible to apply for this commission. Students enrolled in any degree or certificate-granting program are not eligible to apply.
Project Background and Building History: The new, intentionally designed, Jeffery D. Chaddock and Mark R. Morrow College of Fine Arts will be a space where creativity collides -- a shared location, home to a collective of artists, experiences, and educational opportunities that have the power to change OU students and the Athens, Ohio community, forever.
Ohio University has embarked on a $99 million comprehensive renewal of its College of Fine Arts facilities that will transform the way OU students, faculty, staff, and community experience art.

Mission of School or Site: The Chaddock + Morrow College of Fine Arts celebrates innovative creativity and scholarship, and engages students through a challenging and supportive learning environment. The arts are infused in the university, the region, and the world, by embracing a broad spectrum of traditions and emerging practices.
The Chaddock + Morrow College of Fine Arts aspires to be an internationally significant center of creative practice and scholarship, by launching arts initiatives that reflect a diversity of ideas and cultures.
Artistic Goals of the Commissioned Piece: The commissioned piece aims to define and activate the new fine arts spaces with bold, contemporary, and thought-provoking artwork. It should facilitate engagement between fine arts buildings and disciplines, fostering connections between performing and visual arts. The artwork should serve as a gathering point for students and the fine arts community. Additionally, the piece should establish a meaningful connection to the site—whether geographically, ecologically, or regionally—while also incorporating themes of interdisciplinarity and globalism.
Practical Considerations: The opportunity for the artwork to be installed is either on the exterior plaza or green space or within the building's interior atrium hall. Artwork considered for The Chaddock + Morrow College of Fine Arts project must be durable and suitably maintenance-free. The image of the artwork site location is above.
Selection Review Process: Interested artists should complete the online form by visiting: https://ohiopercentforart-ouco... (Register & Apply at the top of this page)

The Advisory Selection Committee will review submitted materials and will develop a list of semi-finalist artists that will be invited to meet with the committee for a site visit. After the site visit, the semi-finalists will create a site-specific proposal for artwork for the Ohio University Chaddock + Morrow College of Fine Arts/Patton Center for Arts Education project. Each semi-finalist will be offered a proposal fee in addition to an honorarium for their site visit. Artist proposals will be judged competitively by the Committee. Submitted proposals become the property of Ohio University.
