New Mexico Watercolor Society–Southern Chapter invites members of both NMWS chapters to submit artwork for selection to the 2025 Fall/Winter Exhibition. The theme of the exhibition is “Transitions & Transformations”. In these tumultuous times we are surrounded by changes that often bring about transitions and sometimes dramatic transformations to ourselves and our communities, environment, cities and countryside, as well as to our social and political lives. Artists throughout the ages have used their art to depict—and inspire us to see and feel—these dramatic changes. As an NMWS artist, you are encouraged to boldly interpret a variety of the transitional and transformational subject matters that have affected you deeply.

Deadline for entries is Monday, October 27, 2025, at 6 PM

Entry is online only, Monday, September 15, 2025–Monday, October 27, 2025.Artists must be a current member of NMWS. To become a member click Join NMWS.In order to enter, you must first create an ArtCall account at artcall.org. Instructions for Registration are contained in a video entitled “User Entry Process Tutorial” at the bottom of this page. Please view the video before entering!Entry fees are $30 for one entry, $45 for two entries.Entries must be original, entirely the work of the artist, and completed within the last 2 years. Any copying of others’ work is not allowed. If copying is discovered, the entry will be declined or removed from competition.You MAY NOT enter works that have been previously accepted or shown in National Shows, Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, Masterworks of New Mexico, or in NMWS Fall or Spring shows. All entries must be for sale for the duration of the Exhibition.A 20% commission of the sales price will be made to and collected by Doña Ana Arts Council. Funds collected from artwork sales will be remitted to the artist within 15 days of exhibition closing.MINIMUM IMAGE SIZE (without mat or frame) is 80 square inches (width x height) which is equivalent, but not limited to, 8" x 10" OR 10" x 8".
MAXIMUM IMAGE SIZE (without mat or frame) is 480 Square inches (width x height) which is equivalent to, but not limited to 20" X 24" OR 24" x 20".Watermedia must be the dominant medium used—refer to prospectus for complete information about acceptable media.No mechanical means of reproduction is allowed in the creation of submitted paintings.Both traditional and non-traditional presentation are allowed as detailed in the prospectus. Traditional framing (with a mat, under Plexiglas® glazing, in a frame) REQUIRES a mat between 1.75" and 3.5", white or off white (with colored liner if desired–refer to prospectus). NO GLASS is allowed.Alternative presentation: This category is applicable for paintings presented without Plexiglas® and instead sealed with varnish (including the mat if used). Note that mats are not required. Refer to the prospectus for complete information on various alternative presentation styles.Digital images must be submitted in jpg only, be less than 4mb with a maximum of 4800px on longest side.File naming will be handled by the ArtCall website software.
