MACC - Check Mate

Description

Calling artists for a fun exhibit about the game of chess. The MACC will be exhibiting unique handmade chess sets from all over the world for the exhibit Check Mate! This is a call for “wall hung” art for the gallery during the exhibition of Check Mate! All media with exception of installations, three-dimensional sculpture, and video will be considered. Wall hung 3D work is acceptable. All art must be wired and ready to be hung on the Wall. Nothing using French cleats, or nails will be allowed. All canvases must be framed, and or sides painted and looks professional.

The theme is all about the game of chess. Your art must represent the game of in some way. Nonobjective work and abstract work are acceptable as long as there is a discernable chess theme within the work. Painting, wall hung 3D, mixed media, collage, ceramic, fiber arts, glass, metal, and wood are all acceptable mediums. If you have any questions, please reach out to Cheryl@cordovacouncil.org

Dates and Deadlines

Artist Deadline for Online Submission - Feb. 17 by 11:59 pm.
Art Intake at the MACC - Feb. 26 | 12-6 pm.
Exhibit Runs - Mar. 6-22 | Gallery hours TH/FR 2-7 pm. and SA 11-4 pm.
Art Reception - Mar. 6 | 5:30-7:30 pm.
Artist Pick-Up - Mar. 24 | 11-5 pm.

Artwork not picked up by March 24th deadline will accrue a $5 day charge for storage. Please mark your calendars and check your emails for reminders and have someone pick up for you if you cannot pickup yourself. You may pick up the 22nd on the last day of exhibit at 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm.

NOTE**** Art not picked up within 3 days will become property of Cordova Community Council as seen in Section 6 of the Artist Waiver agreement you signed to enter this show.
All Artists must print and sign the Artist Waiver and bring it in when you drop off your artwork.
