All works must be finished works of art ready for installation as follows:
1. Works on paper or loose fabric must be mounted and secured in professional frames and ready for installation. Collage elements must be secured behind glass to prevent damage or loss during handling. Due to durability and handling safety issues: we will accept no plastic frames or clip-style glass frameless frames (acrylic or plexi clip frames are fine).
2. Paintings or photographs printed on canvas must be mounted on a stretcher and have a finished edge: clean, painted or with wood stripping. Paintings or photographs on panels must be framed. Work should be dry and fixed. No wet paint.
3. All hanging artworks must have a hanging device, either with screw-eyes and securely tied braided picture wire, cleats, or d-rings attached directly to the frame. Works under 14 inches in both height and width and under two pounds in weight may use saw-tooth hangers securely screwed into the frame.
4. Video works should not exceed 5 minutes in length, at a preferred resolution of 1080p and should be in one of the following file formats: MKV, AVI, MP4/M4V, MOV, MPG. Works selected for exhibition should be submitted as the sole file on a USB flash drive, NTFS formatted (Windows Filesystem) with the movie file in the top directory labeled in the following example: A file by the media artist Jane Doe, entitled “Sample Movie” would be labeled as follows: Doe_Jane_Sample_Movie.mp4
5. Hanging fabric works will need to include a rigid hanging device, such as an embedded sleeve slipped over a dowel or rod.
6. Photographs mounted on acrylic or aluminum are fine as long as the backing is ready to hang with either d-rings, cleats, or braided wire attached to the backing.
7. Sculptural work and freestanding pieces must be in one contiguous piece and be installation ready. Artists may be called upon to assist with installation.
8. Extremely fragile works will not be eligible due to the need for special handling. Determination of fragility is at the sole discretion of the Lyndon House Art Center.
9. As a community-wide facility, the Lyndon House Arts Center reserves the right to present artworks in a controlled-access area or to deny exhibition of any work that may not be appropriate for all audiences.
10. Artists may not substitute another work for an accepted work, alter a work, or remove a work after it has been accepted. Photographers must submit prints at the size listed in the submission entry.
11. The Lyndon House Art Center reserves the right to refuse to display any works that are deemed not adequately prepared for presentation, for the safety of the art, the installer, and the viewing public.
