42nd Annual Idaho Watercolor Society Capitol Rotunda Show

March 15, 2026 - March 28, 2026

Artists’ Reception - Saturday, March 21, 2026 - 11am - 2pm

In Entry Details - Paintings previously displayed in any past Rotunda Show are not eligible for entry.In Shipping Details - SHIP TO: Carol H. Browning - 71 W Arnaz St., Meridian ID 83646In Show Schedule - With the Capitol now open 7am - 7pm daily (back to pre-COVID hours), the show breakdown will take place on a SUNDAY (March 29, 2026)

Entry Details:

$10 Entry Fee 
Only one entry per artist
Artwork must be an original painting that is suitable for family viewing.Paintings previously displayed in any past Rotunda Show are not eligible for entry.
Maximum outside width dimension 32” (including frame)
Artwork may be framed under PLEXIGLASS (Sorry, glass is not permitted per the Idaho State Capitol Building guidelines) or varnished. ALL paintings must be framed in a professional manner with hanging wire only (no sawtooth hangers).
Entry must be primarily watercolor/gouache. Any other medium may be included but watercolor/gouache must constitute 80% or more.
Any substrate may be used.
This show is NOT juried. Entries are taken on first- come basis. Deadline to enter is February 25, 2026 or until the 75 painting limit is reached.
Associate Members are eligible to display in this show.

Shipping Details:

SHIP TO: Carol H. Browning - 71 W Arnaz St., Meridian ID 83646
Arrangements will be made with individual artists who have shipped their paintings to cover the expense of returning artwork (See more details in acceptance letter). 
Shipped entries must arrive no later than March 4, 2026.

Show Schedule:

All local entries are to be delivered to the 4th Floor Rotunda in the Idaho State Capitol Building (700 West Jefferson Street) on SATURDAY, March 14, 2026 between 10am - Noon. 
An Artists’ Reception will be hosted in the Rotunda on Saturday, March 21, 2026 (11am - 2pm). 
Paintings must be picked up at the 4th Floor Rotunda in the Idaho State Capitol Building (700 West Jefferson Street) on SUNDAY – March 29, 2026 between 9am – 10am. Shipped paintings will be returned by mail.

Additional Details:

By entering your artwork, you are accepting all IWS show conditions.
Work must be in compliance with show guidelines or it will not be hung.
All care will be taken to avoid damage to artwork, but IWS cannot be held liable for damage or loss. 
If a sale is made, a 15% donation is suggested to Idaho Watercolor Society.

Awards: 

The IWS will facilitate four "Visitor's Choice Awards". We provide ballots and the public will vote at the Capitol Building for their favorites, determining the winners. A First Place cash award of $200, a Second Place cash award of $100, a Third Place merchandise award of $100 from BLICK Art Materials and a Fourth Place merchandise award of $50 from The Merri Artist will be given out. The award winning artworks will also be featured heavily in promotion for the following years exhibition.
