CALL FOR ENTRY:  Grain in the Frame, An Exploration of Contemporary Film Photography
Exhibition Dates: September 27, 2025 – January 12, 2026Juried by: Frame 1A

Frame 1A is proud to announce its first juried photography exhibition, Grain in the Frame, a call for entry that seeks to showcase contemporary film photography by talented photo-based artists working in the extended Bay Area region. This is an open theme show, all subject matter and analog photographic processes are welcome for consideration, including traditional darkroom, alternative processes, hybrid analog-digital workflows, and other experimental techniques.AI-generated images will not be accepted.Participants chosen through the jury process will have their work professionally exhibited at Frame 1A in Alameda, CA in February 2026. Selected artists will also be featured on our social channels, and will be invited to attend and promote the opening reception. All work must originate on film and be physically printed, framed, matted and ready to hang.ELIGIBILITY • Open to photographers working with film-based media only • Work must be shot on film between Sept 2024–Sept 2025 • Must be printed, matted, and framed (ready to hang) • Open to emerging and established photographers • No digital-only submissionsREGISTRATION & FEES • $25 for up to 3 images • Includes full consideration by jury • Entry fees help cover gallery prep, install, and promotional costs
