Description

ETA is an exhibition focused on showcasing the extraordinary work of high school artists around North Texas. "Emerging Texas Artists" presents an opportunity for visual artists who are redefining what is possible in the high school studio to share their work and ideas in a formal gallery exhibition.   This blind juried exhibition is open to all mediums, formats, subject matter, and approaches created by students currently enrolled in 9-12th grade.

ABOUT:
ETA is a response to the limited opportunities that visual artists attending high school have to showcase and exhibit work that challenges conventional definitions and expectations around “high school” work. Artists' work will be blind juried; focusing only on the artwork and statement, not the student’s age, school, course, or instructor. ETA welcomes artists challenging convention through their approach and thinking, taking risks with their media application, and creating work driven by personal voice and ideation to share their work with our community.

ELIGIBILITY:
The show is open to all Texas artists in grades 9 - 12th.
MEDIA:
All 2D, 3D, and 4D media accepted.
All work must be able to fit through 83”h x 70”w doors
REQUIREMENTS:
All work must be original (no reproductions) and completed within the last 12 months

Works copied from published photographs, the internet, or existing works should not be submitted and will be disqualified. Even if there is no “exact” copying of a work or an idea, but the new work is not a clear transformation of the original idea/work, the work should not be submitted.

All juried/accepted 2D/3D work that will be hung on the wall must be mounted, matted, or framed and ready to hang. All mounted work should be on white mounting board with a minimum 2” margins in all directions and backed with foam core.
Any 2D/3D works that will be hung and are above 5 lbs in weight should be properly wired or prepared with sawtooth hangers.
All juried/accepted 2D work on canvas or other material that cannot be mounted should be properly wired or prepared with sawtooth hangers.
