It reveals, conceals, directs, and transforms. It shapes how we see the world and how we understand what we see. In art, light becomes a storyteller: carrying emotion, constructing meaning, and guiding perception beyond the visible surface. Encounters with Light in the Age of Perception brings together artists from around the world who engage with light not only as a visual element, but as a condition of seeing itself. In an era shaped by constant imagery, shifting attention, and layered realities, light becomes both subject and medium—something that defines how perception is formed and how meaning is constructed. Whether natural or artificial, subtle or intense, material or symbolic, light operates here as a vehicle for narrative. It speaks through contrast, shadow, reflection, and radiance—suggesting clarity, memory, presence, and transformation. Across mediums and approaches, the artists in this exhibition explore how light can be experienced, interpreted, and reimagined. Together, their works form a collective inquiry into perception itself—reminding us that to encounter light is also to encounter how we see, and how we understand what we see.Artists are invited to submit work that engages with light in any form, including:Natural or artificial lightShadow and contrastReflection and transparencyRadiance and atmosphereSymbolic or emotional uses of lightPerception, memory, transformation, or visibilityWe welcome a wide range of artistic interpretations and approaches across mediums. What Selected Artists ReceiveOnline Exhibition on Artsy.netAll accepted works will be featured online.Online Reception & PromotionParticipating artists will be invited to a live Zoom reception with curator Sergio Gomez, collectors, and guests of the gallery.During the event:Sergio Gomez will discuss the curatorial vision of the exhibitionSelected artworks may be highlightedThe session will be recordedSocial Media & Artist PromotionThe exhibition will be promoted through the gallery’s social media platforms and online channels.Selected artists may also be considered for:Podcast interviewsArtist featuresAdditional online programming opportunitiesExhibition PublicationA print-on-demand exhibition catalog will be published.Accepted artists will receive:A complimentary digital copy of the publicationEligibilityOpen to artists worldwide, age 18 and older.Accepted mediums include:PaintingDrawingPhotographySculptureMixed mediaDigital artNot EligibleVideo artPerformance artFully AI-generated artworkSubmission GuidelinesArtists may submit up to 3 artworksAll artwork must be originalWork should relate to the exhibition themeThere are no size restrictionsArtwork images must be:High-resolutionClear and professionalJPEG format onlySales & CommissionPlease read carefully:ALL submitted artwork must be available for saleDo not submit work that is:Not for saleSimultaneously exhibited elsewhereGallery commission on sales: 40%Shipping costs for sold artwork are paid by the collectorArtists must ship sold artwork within 7 daysSubmission Fee$30 USDIncludes submission of up to 3 artworksParticipation AgreementBy submitting artwork, artists agree to:Grant permission to 33 Contemporary Gallery and 33PA to use submitted images for:Exhibition promotionSocial mediaOnline and print publicationsConfirm that:They are the rightful owner of the artworkThe artwork does not violate copyright lawsAll artwork will be properly credited to the artist.Frequently Asked QuestionsCan I submit digital art?Yes, as long as the work is not completely AI-generated.Can I submit more than one artwork?Yes.
