¡ENCANTADA! 2025 IS NOW OPEN FOR ENTRY, sponsored by the Rio Grande Art Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the education and promotion of fine art in New Mexico. Our focus is on creativity and originality. This annual juried exhibition promotes the sale of original paintings, drawings, artisan prints, collage, sculpture, metalwork, woodwork, ceramics, batik, weaving, jewelry, or other 2D or 3D artwork. All styles are welcome from traditional, representational, and abstract to non-traditional, contemporary, and avantgarde. RGAA membership is required for entry into ¡Encantada! 2025. ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
¡ENCANTADA! is an annual juried exhibition promoting the sale of original paintings, drawings, artisan prints (e.g., lithographs, etchings, engravings, silkscreens, monotypes), collage, sculpture, metalwork, woodwork, ceramics, batik, weaving, jewelry, or other 2D or 3D artwork. ¡ENCANTADA! is sponsored by the Rio Grande Art Association (RGAA), which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the education and promotion of fine art in New Mexico. Our focus is on creativity and originality. All styles are welcome from traditional, representational, and abstract to non-traditional, contemporary, and avantgarde.
Awards for the Standard 2D Artwork Category are $1000 first place; $700 second place; and $500 third place. Small 2D Artwork Category awards are $500 first place; $325 second place; and $275 third place. 3D Artwork Category awards are $500 first place; $325 second place; $275 third place. Several cash merit awards will also be given in all categories.
RGAA membership is required for entry into ¡Encantada! 2025. Dues must be paid in full before submitting to the call for entry and remain current throughout the show or through November 30, 2025. User Entry Process Tutorial
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Must be 18 or older and a member of RGAA. Paid membership is required through November 30, 2025, or greater. If not a current member, you may sign up at rgaanm.org. Click on “Membership Sign-up” and follow the directions.
All submitted 2D and 3D artwork must: (1) be original, (2) have been produced within the last two years from the entry deadline, and (3) not exhibited in any previous RGAA-sponsored show.
All submitted artwork must be for sale. Accepted artwork shall be exhibited until the end of the show, Sunday, November 30, 2025, 6 pm, unless special arrangements are made with the Show Chair ahead of time.
At least 80% of the artwork surface or form must be hand worked. Artworks produced on any substrate with pre-embossed or pre-printed images are ineligible. 2D artworks may have relief elements not to extend or recede more than 1.5 inches beyond the artwork surface.
Submitted artwork shall not violate copyright law. All artwork entered must be original in concept and executed solely by the entering artist. Works produced from copyrighted materials (i.e., published materials, photographs, or other artworks) are ineligible. Artwork done under the guidance of an instructor is ineligible for entry.
The artist retains the copyright for his/her image(s). However, by submitting to this show, the artist agrees to RGAA’s use of the images for publicity, promotion, and archival purposes.
All artwork must have professional presentation. No name plaques may be attached. 2D artwork must be suitably framed or gallery wrapped and ready to hang with D-rings and picture hanging wire (hanging wire must peak at 3.5” from the top edge of the work). Saw-tooth hangers will not be accepted. Gallery-wrapped canvases must be a minimum depth of 1.5” and painted on all four sides. Floor-displayed 3D artwork must include pedestals or stands for suitable display. Tabletop-displayed 3D artwork may optionally include pedestals, stands, or other display structures.
ARTWORK CATEGORIES, SIZE, AND PRICING
Standard 2D Artwork CategoryStandard 2D artwork shall be wall hung work. The maximum size for unframed 2D artwork is 50” wide and 72” high. The minimum size for unframed 2D artwork is 108 square inches (width x height), which is equivalent to a 9” x 12” panel. Maximum frame width is 4”. For example, a framed 9” x 12” panel may not exceed 17” x 20”. The minimum sales price for standard 2D artwork is $250.
Small 2D Artwork CategorySmall 2D artwork shall be wall hung work. The maximum size for unframed 2D artwork is 80 square inches (width x height), which is equivalent to an 8” x 10” panel. There is no minimum size. Maximum frame width is 3”. For example, a framed 8” x 10” panel may not exceed 14” x 16”. The minimum sales price for Small 2D Artwork is $125.
3D Artwork Category3D artwork shall be floor or tabletop displayed work. Wall displayed 3D artwork will not be accepted. The maximum size for tabletop displayed 3D artwork, not including pedestal, stand, or other display structure, is 12” x 12”. There is no minimum size. The maximum size for floor displayed 3D artwork, including pedestal, stand, or other display structure, is 36” x 36” base, 5’ tall, and 50 lbs. There is no minimum size. Minimum sales price for all 3D artwork is $125.
ARTWORK SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Artists submitting to the show must have paid RGAA member dues through November 30, 2025, or greater. Each artist must submit high quality images for selection into the show through this ArtCall. Each artist may enter up to nine images: (1) three images into the Standard 2D Artwork Category; (2) three images into the Small 2D Artwork Category; (3) and three images into the 3D Artwork Category. Entry fees are $15 per image. All entry fees must be paid online through ArtCall. NOTE: You will be charged $15 after each entry vs. a total amount after completion. Entry fees are non-refundable.
Up to three juried artworks in each category from each artist may be selected for exhibit in the show. If space does not allow for exhibit of three juried works per artist in each category, RGAA may limit the exhibit to the top juried works per artist in each category: (1) two standard 2D artworks, (2) two small 2D artworks, (3) one floor displayed 3D artwork, and (4) one tabletop displayed 3D artwork.
DIGITAL FILE IMAGE SPECIFICATIONS
Crop image to show only the artwork. No frames, stands, pedestals, or background please.
File format is JPEG
File name is the artwork title with appropriate spaces, not to exceed 45 characters in total. Please count as the title needs to fit on the wall labels.
DELIVERY OF ARTWORK
An email from ArtCall.org will be sent with either an acceptance or rejection letter to every artist entering the show for each artwork entered. Accepted artwork will be hand-delivered to Expo New Mexico Hispanic Arts Gallery on Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 10 am to 1 pm. For shipped artwork, please contact the ¡ENCANTADA! Show Chair at showchair@rgaanm.org for instructions. The artwork images submitted through the entry application must exactly match the respective delivered artwork. Any artist delivering a substitute for the original submission will be disqualified from exhibiting all his/her artwork in the current ¡ENCANTADA! exhibition and the following two ¡ENCANTADA! exhibitions.
TERMS OF ARTWORK SALE
RGAA shall handle all sales of exhibited artworks and collect all associated payments from buyers, including New Mexico Gross Receipts Tax. RGAA will retain 30% of sales revenue, based on the sales price of the artwork sold. The RGAA Treasurer will send payment for sold artwork, based on 70% of the sales price, to the artist within 14 days of the closing of the exhibition.
All sold artwork will hang until the end of the show unless special arrangements are made with the Show Chair. Buyers should pick up purchased artworks on pick-up day, December 2, 11:00am – 2:00pm. Buyers may take purchased artwork at point of sale during the exhibition if they do not live in the local area or have a mitigating conflict. If sold artwork is not picked up in person at the end of the show, buyers will pay all packing and shipping charges, insurance costs, and handling expenses incurred for the sale.
Any artist who presells artwork that has been accepted into the show, but not yet delivered, is asked to donate 30% of the sales price to RGAA. The artwork is still eligible to be exhibited in the show with a red dot and to receive awards.
Any artist selling an exhibited artwork without complying with RGAA’s terms of artwork sales will be disqualified from exhibiting all his/her artwork in the current ¡ENCANTADA! exhibition and the following two ¡ENCANTADA! Exhibitions.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Agreement of Entry and Liability
RGAA has the right to refuse or disqualify any artwork that fails to meet eligibility, entry, and exhibition requirements or deemed inappropriate for public viewing. Neither Rio Grande Art Association nor Expo New Mexico, their agents, employees, volunteers, or anyone working on the exhibition will be held responsible for any loss or damage of any artwork in the exhibition. Exhibiting artists are responsible for purchasing insurance to cover their work during transit and exhibition.
Exhibiting artists are responsible to make arrangements for artwork pick-up if they cannot do so themselves for any reason including inclement weather. An artist’s entry submission and payment constitute acceptance of all conditions and terms in this prospectus.
