Description
Edward Hopper House Museum Juried "Hopper Happens" Exhibition
June 1 - July 6, 2026
Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center (EHHM) is pleased to announce for 2026 a new JURIED Exhibition titled "HOPPER HAPPENS" This competitive exhibition is open for images currently being made by established and emerging photographers, 18 years or older.
This Call for Entries is open to EHHM Artist Members and to Non-Member Artists, 18 years and older, located in the United States and Abroad. (EHHM members receive the benefits of lower entry fees and an additional submission.) Eligible artwork must have been completed after January 1, 2020, never previously exhibited at the EHHM, and fall within the stated guidelines.
This show marks the 55th anniversary of the ‘Hopper House’ being established as a nonprofit arts organization. Titled "Hopper Happens," the show will feature 55 photographs presented in 55 downtown Nyack businesses and non profits.
Images are to be inspired by #HopperHappens, the Museum's popular, long running weekly Instagram social media series that invites photographers to share images of real-world moments that evoke the style, light, and mood of Edward Hopper's paintings. Since April 3, 2020, the Friday campaign posts have evolved from a tool for connection during global isolation into a central pillar of the museum's digital community.
This Call will be juried by the distinguished artist Richard Tuschman. He began experimenting with digital imaging in the early 1990s, developing a style that synthesized his interests in photography, painting and assemblage. Since 2012, beginning with his celebrated series, Hopper Meditations, he has focused on creating cinematic, open-ended photographic narratives that explore the complexities and emotional nuances of human relationships.
The juried in artists and their selected work will be featured on a "Hopper Happens" walking tour on the Museum's Bloomberg Connects Guide, with geotags to the installation location.
