Description

Student Curated Exhibition at the Anderson Gallery, Drake University
Call for Entries
Mainframe Studios and Drake University’s Art History Capstone class are excited to announce a special opportunity and call for entries. Every two years the Art History Capstone Curating class organizes an exhibition in the Fall semester in the Anderson Gallery on Drake’s campus. For the Fall 2026 exhibition, the class, led by Assistant Professor Sascha Crasnow and with the support of Anderson Gallery Director Lilah Anderson, is inviting Mainframe resident artists to submit their work for possible inclusion in the show. The final number of artists and works, as well as which works, to be included will be determined by the students based on a theme they formulate from the entries.
The goal of the exhibition is to showcase local artists from Mainframe, while giving Art History major and minor students the opportunity to organize an exhibition of living artists from beginning to end: including selecting artists from the call, conducting studio visits, organizing and installing the exhibition, and writing essays for a catalog to be published alongside the exhibition.
Selected works will be on display November 5- December 18, 2026. All Mainframe artists are encouraged to submit up to 3 works for consideration that are representative of the work they’d be interested in showing. Artists are also asked to submit a brief bio and CV. Students enrolled in the Art History capstone will select the artists for inclusion based on the submissions as well as their ultimate organizing theme. Final works for exhibition will be determined during studio visits with the artists by the students.
All media of original works are eligible, and entry is free. Please note all online entries are due by Sunday, August 7 at 11:59 PM, and late submissions will not be accepted.
Artists will be notified of selections on Monday, September 7, 2026.
