Abernathy Arts Center and Gallery and Dunwoody Fine Art Association are pleased to announce Sights & Insights, a juried exhibition of Georgia artists. Accepted work will be exhibited at Abernathy Arts Center and Gallery from January 31 to March 13, 2026. The Juror will be Veronica L. Hogan.

HoganVeronica L. Hogan (née Kessenich) is a museum director, curator, art historian, educator, and entrepreneur. Formerly the Executive Director of Atlanta Contemporary, she now leads CARCIOFI and NOËL CARDOON, uniting nearly two decades of arts leadership with expertise in art procurement, nonprofit grant writing and consulting, development planning, and floral design. Based in Atlanta, she helps nonprofits and individuals create strategies that secure support and inspire lasting impact.Abernathy Arts Center – With dedicated programs for adults, teens, and children, Abernathy Arts Center provides art instruction in an engaging and supportive environment in a variety of popular media. Taught by experienced artists and educators, these classes foster artistic expression while helping students to build confidence and technique. Art Sandy Springs operates this center as part of their mission to bring public art and art education to the city of Sandy Springs. The Gallery at Abernathy Arts Center exhibits quarterly art shows featuring original works by local artists. The artist may submit up to 3 works of art. The non-refundable fee is $30 for DFAA members, $40 for non-members.Awards – Cash awards will be presented to the winning artists at the Exhibit Reception.First Place -- $600   Second Place -- $300   Third Place -- $150   3 Honorable Mentions -- $75 eachEntry Requirements-- Entry is open to all artists aged 18 and over who are residents of Georgia. Work submitted may not be more than 3 years old. Any work that has been previously juried in a DFAA Sights & Insights exhibition is not eligible for submission.Accepted Media – Fine art media may be 2-D or 3-D and includes for this exhibition: painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography, mixed media, fiber arts and collage subject to the following criteria:• Work must be original and created by the submitting artist.• 2-D pieces must be mounted by wire and protrude no more than 4” from wall.• Photography pieces may be modified by digital processes or in the “dark room” with all modifications completed by the artist.• Artwork requiring installation or placement by the artist will not be allowed.• Abernathy Arts Center and DFAA may refuse any artwork deemed inappropriate, offensive or improperly presented.• Insurance is provided for artists’ work by Abernathy Arts Center during the Sights & Insights Exhibit. Criteria for JPG Images – All entries will be juried for acceptance from the jpg images submitted. The jpg images must follow the following criteria:• Dimension between 960-4600 pixels. Maximum file size 4 mb.• Resolution 72 pixels per inch.• Orientation reflects the actual artwork.• One image for each 2-D piece or up to three images for each 3-D piece.• Images of 2-D pieces should show only the artwork without any frame or mat.• File name corresponds to the title of the artwork depicted.Notification of Acceptance – Email to artist from ArtCall.org on or about 1/6/2026.Requirements for Accepted Work• 2-D artwork not to exceed 36” x 36”, (including frame if applicable). Artwork ready to hang by wire and/or D-Hooks or eyehooks. Wire ends must be taped. No saw-tooth hangers or other hanging methods. Framed pieces must have a relatively simple frame.• 2-D pieces requiring protection (watercolors, pastels, etc.) should use plexi-glass. Glass may be used on smaller pieces at the artist’s risk. Mats (if applicable) must be white, off-white, or black.• Gallery-wrapped canvasses accepted provided that they are 3/4“ or greater in thickness with edges neatly finished. Total weight (including frame, mat, plexi-glass, etc.) not to exceed 25 pounds in weight.• 3-D work must be self-standing. Maximum finished size for 3-D work is 18” wide and deep and 24” high. Total weight of piece not to exceed 25 pounds.• 3-D piece to be handled by gallery staff members only.All artists who have work accepted must provide a short, SINGLE PAGE BIO which will be used in the catalog for the exhibit. This bio should be sent via email to dina.chumney@artss.org by January 13, 2026. Sales and Commissions• It is the artist’s responsibility to value each piece submitted and put that amount on the registration form. Any piece that is specifically listed as $0.00 indicates that the work is not for sale.• Neither Abernathy Arts Center nor DFAA can or will guarantee art sales.• All art sold at the exhibition will have a 40% sales commission. Prevailing state and local sales taxes are the responsibility of the artist and will not be collected by Abernathy Arts Center. Payment for work sold will be sent to the artist within 30 days of the end of the exhibition.Requirements for Exhibited Work• Artists are obligated to provide their work for the duration of the exhibition. Accepted work that is not delivered or is withdrawn by the artist will prevent that artist’s eligibility for future DFAA juried exhibitions.• The artist will pay 40% of the listed price to DFAA for any withdrawn exhibited pieces.• Photographs of accepted work may be used in the catalog and for promotional materials sent out by Abernathy Arts Center and DFAA.• The juror, Abernathy Arts Center, and DFAA have final authority on works selected.• All accepted work must have a legible identification label on the back for 2-D and on the bottom for 3-D work. Submission Labels and Claim Tickets are printed from the artist’s submission page on dfaa2026.artcall.orgShipment and Delivery of Accepted Work to the Gallery• Accepted work may be hand delivered or shipped to Abernathy Arts Center and Gallery by January 24 or January 26, 2026.• All shipped work must be shipped by either UPS or FedEx.• Pieces must be boxed and protected by padding and/or bubble wrap that can be stored and reused when artwork is returned to artist.• No loose packing material (styrofoam ‘’peanuts,” organic material, etc.) may be used. Any piece received with loose packing material will be immediately returned to the artist and the work will be disqualified.• Artists must call Abernathy Arts Center (404-343-6692) to notify that their work is being shipped and will need return shipping. Abernathy Arts Center will receive shipped artwork only if the artist provides prepaid return postage and arrangements have been made for the carrier to pick up at Abernathy Arts Center and Gallery. If a piece is received without prepaid shipping information, the artist will be notified that the work may be disqualified.• The artist will be given one week to forward prepaid shipping documentation to DFAA and Abernathy Arts Center. If the documentation is not received, the work will be disqualified and become the property of DFAA.• If the piece is damaged during shipping, the artist will be notified as to the extent of the damage and will have the following options:--If the damage can be quickly repairable and if the artist agrees to pay for the repair, the work will be taken to a local professional for the work required.--If the damage is not quickly repairable, the work will be returned to the artist using the pre-paid shipping documentation previously provided.--It will be the artist’s responsibility to recover any fees for damage from the shipping company.• Shipped pieces must be sent to: Abernathy Arts Center 254 Johnson Ferry Road, NWSandy Springs, GA 30342 • TRACKING INFORMATION MUST BE PROVIDED TO ABERNATHY ARTS CENTERReturn of Exhibited Work to Artist• The artist will provide prepaid shipping documents and will make arrangement for the carrier pick-up at Abernathy Arts Center and Gallery. Unsold art must be picked up by the carrier on March 14 or March 16, 2026 for return to the artist.• Unsold artwork that was hand-delivered will require the artist pick up at Abernathy Arts Center on specified pick- up dates – March 14 or March 16, 2026 Artists picking up in person or by an agent must bring claim ticket printed from ArtCall Submission Page at dfaa2026.artcall.org. Artwork may be picked up by a designated person other than the artist.
