OPEN CALL: Colours of Humanity Arts Exhibition 2026

Calling HK & Macau creatives - We want your artworks and ideas! The European Union Office to Hong Kong and Macao, the Goethe-Institut, and Eaton HK once again invite artists to submit artworks and ideas interpreting Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) across all mediums—from painting to digital art. Finalists will be selected to participate in a major group exhibition at the Goethe Gallery HK, curated by Eunice Tsang & Jims Lam

Community Action Pitch! ✨
Following the incredible response to last year's participatory programs (like communal cooking & zine-making), we are keeping the momentum alive for 2026! Propose a 1-day community experience celebrating diversity, equity, and inclusion, and win the resources to bring it to life.
What we’re looking for:
✓ Interactive formats: Workshops, screenings, performances, discussions✓ Community focus: Programs serving underrepresented groups✓ Theme connection: Clear ties to our values of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion✓ Feasibility: Realistic budget and timeline (1-day event at EATON)
Eligibility
Open to all Hong Kong/Macau-based artists. Artists of diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to submit their work.The Open Call does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race or ethnicity, color, immigration status, national origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, artistic training or background.No entry fee. Maximum of 3 submissions per artist; only 1 may be exhibited.Community Action Pitch proposals are not counted toward this artwork submission limit.Artworks must be original and not previously exhibited at Goethe Gallery.
Selection Process & CriteriaAll entries will be evaluated by an independent judging panel based on the below criteria:
Artistic Excellence Demonstrated creativity and originalityTechnical execution and aesthetic qualityConceptual depth and innovationTheme InterpretationClear engagement with diversity, equity and inclusion principlesRepresentation of underrepresented voices or experiencesPotential inspire social awareness and foster dialogueSensitivity in handling complex social issuesMessage and NarrativeAddresses urgent social, cultural, or political conversationsAbility to evoke empathy, reflection, or visceral responseBalances complexity with approachability for diverse audiences
Shortlisted artists will receive email notification by early October.Selected artists must confirm participation within 7 days of notification.Artwork delivery must be arranged by the artist, while our team handles installation.
