The European Union Office to Hong Kong and Macao, the Goethe-Institut and the Eaton Hong Kong once again invite artists to submit artworks and ideas to reinterpret Diversity, Equity & Inclusion across all mediums—from painting to digital art. After last year’s hit programs (think communal cooking & zine-making!), we’re expanding participatory art in 2025! Propose your 1-day community experience celebrating diversity, equity & inclusion and win the chance to make it happen.
What we’re looking for:
✓ Interactive formats: Workshops, screenings, performances, discussions✓ Community focus: Programs serving underrepresented groups✓ Theme connection: Clear ties to our values of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion✓ Feasibility: Realistic budget and timeline (1-day event at EATON)
Eligibility
Open to all Hong Kong-based artists. Artists of diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to submit their work.The Open Call does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race or ethnicity, color, immigration status, national origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, artistic training or background.No entry fee. Maximum of 3 submissions per artist; only 1 may be exhibited.Community Action Pitch proposals are not counted toward this artwork submission limit.Artworks must be original and not previously exhibited at Goethe Gallery.
Selection Process & CriteriaAll entries will be evaluated by an independent judging panel based on the below criteria:
Artistic Excellence Demonstrated creativity and originalityTechnical execution and aesthetic qualityConceptual depth and innovationTheme InterpretationClear engagement with diversity, equity and inclusion principlesRepresentation of underrepresented voices or experiencesPotential inspire social awareness and foster dialogueSensitivity in handling complex social issuesMessage and NarrativeAddresses urgent social, cultural, or political conversationsAbility to evoke empathy, reflection, or visceral responseBalances complexity with approachability for diverse audiences
Shortlisted artists will receive email notification by October 1st.Selected artists must confirm participation within 7 days of notification.
