The Art Center invites artists to submit work for Beyond the Surface: A Mixed Media Exhibition, a national juried exhibition exploring the limitless possibilities that emerge when artists combine materials,techniques, and ideas.

What is Mixed Media?
Mixed media is artwork that combines two or more artistic materials, techniques, or processes within a single piece. Artists may incorporate painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, collage, fiber, found objects, digital elements, assemblage, sculpture, and other creative approaches to create layered and innovative works that push beyond traditional artistic boundaries.

Exhibition Juror
Dennis Cardalisco is a contemporary artist with more than 40 years of experience in the visual arts. He studied at the Museum School at Tufts University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Throughout his career, Dennis has explored a wide range of media and artistic approaches, developing a practice centered on creativity, human connection, and personal expression. His work reflects a deep understanding of the creative process and a lifelong commitment to artistic exploration. Dennis regularly exhibits throughout New England and is honored to serve as a juror for Beyond the Surface: A Mixed Media Exhibition.

Awards
Best in Show – First Place Awarded to the artwork that demonstrates exceptional creativity, technical achievement, and overall excellence in mixed media.
Juror's Choice Award - Selected by the exhibition juror, Dennis Cardalisco, in recognition of outstanding artistic merit, originality, and creative expression.
People's Choice Award: Selected by exhibition visitors and awarded to the artist whose work receives the most votes during the exhibition.

ELIGIBILITY
Open to all artists residing in the United States, age 18 and older. 
Artists working in any media are welcome to enter up to (3) original works per artist will be accepted. (work must be from a series or compliment the others)
If submitting more than one work, both the art and framing must be consistent. 
2D framed work and 3D work will be accepted.  
3D work - 3D work that requires pedestals must not exceed 36”H and fit within a 16” footprint to display securely on gallery pedestals. Larger floor standing 3D work encouraged and not subject to the same size restrictions. All work must be created within the last 5 years and not shown previously at The Art Center. The Art Center reserves the right to reject artwork that doesn’t fit The Art Center’s presentation standards.
Digital submitted electronically should be JPEGs only.  The JPEG file must be 300dpi at least 1200 pixels in one direction.  All artwork must be for sale  COMMISSION STRUCTURE: Artists retain 70%, The Art Center retains 30% of sale price. SELECTED ARTWORK:Selected works must be delivered ready to hang/install.Artwork misrepresented or considered unsuitable for presentation will be refused.​DELIVERY AND SHIPPED ARTWORK:Deadlines for delivered and shipped works are firm.Delivery of accepted pieces will only be received during the stated days/hours.All work must be packaged in a manner that allows the materials to be re-used for return.Shipped works must be accompanied by a prepaid, return shipment label.ENTRY FEE:
Non-Members: $30 USD for up to three (3) submissions.
Art Center Members: No entry fee. Membership must be current.
