What makes you feel?
INNER STATES is an open call for art that explores the interior—our emotional climates, shifting moods, private rituals, and the sensations that live in the body before they become language. We’re inviting artists to submit work that translates what’s often unseen: joy, dread, tenderness, longing, grief, desire, calm, overwhelm, numbness, anticipation, relief. Not just what you feel, but how feeling changes you—how it moves through you, settles, spikes, fades, and returns.
Submissions can respond to a single feeling or a whole spectrum. They might document a personal threshold, reveal an internal contradiction, or create a space where viewers recognize something in themselves. We welcome work that makes the invisible tangible through form—color, texture, movement, sound, light, gesture, language, repetition, or silence.
All mediums are welcome, including but not limited to painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, textiles, collage, printmaking, video, animation, sound, performance documentation, installation, digital/interactive work, and experimental forms.
New works created in response to this call are welcome, as well as corresponding works made within the last three years.*

About the juror, Nadine Tralala:

NADINE TRALALA is a figurative oil painter based in Germany. Her work blends classical techniques with modern surrealism and creates a dreamlike atmosphere, offering the viewer a moment of calm in a chaotic world.
"I inhale the world and paint a healed version of it."

Nadine exhibits regularly in Europe and United States. She was chosen as the 1st Place Winner of the 2024 Beautiful Bizzarre Art Prize and the 33PA Emerging Artist Award. Selected group shows include: Stephen Schirle, Nadine Tralala and Fletcher Sibthorp, Arcadia Contemporary, New York; SCOPE Miami, Thinkspace, Miami; Museu Europe d’Art Modern, Barcelona, Spain; Annual Exhibition 2024 and 2025, Royal Society of Portrait Painters, London.

About ART MAKER:
ART MAKER is a juried, artist-led publication that centers thoughtful curation, connection, and care. Each issue brings together a diverse group of artists selected by peers within the contemporary art community, then shared directly with galleries, curators, and arts professionals. Our focus is on fostering meaningful visibility — creating pathways to real dialogue, relationships, and opportunity beyond traditional exposure.

We are artist-run and dedicate ourselves to advancing your career. Offering financially accessible applications and no additional publishing fee, we send our magazine out to 50-60 galleries and independent curators every cycle.  Additionally, your featured work gets seen by our growing network of collectors and curators through our social media and email lists. ART MAKER isn’t just another publication for your CV - we are artists just like you, working to help move your career forward. 

Selected artists will receive:

Please read all application instruction thoroughly. Applications missing critical information will not be considered.Applications are open to artists 18 years of age or older, worldwide. We will collect your full birth date to verify age, and will published your birth year to conform with international academic standards (ie: Julia Artist, b. 1986).Artists must submit at least 2 images to be considered.Accepted artists will receive deeply discounted digital and physical copies of the magazine. Please note discounts on physical copies are only available to mailing addresses in the United States due to incredibly high shipping rates. Copies are also available on Amazon (unfortunately they do not allow us to discount them). There is NO ADDITIONAL FEE to be published in the magazine. All images must be 300dpi, clear and well-lit. Blurry or lo-res images will not be accepted.By applying, applicants testify that all artwork is original and that they are the copyright owners. Commercial artwork submissions are welcome as long as the applicant has permission and / or copyright ownership. The artist is solely responsible for correctly citing any copyright ownership and permission exceptions. ART MAKER Magazine is not responsible for any errors in the artist’s provided copyright or permission information.All applicants are required to submit an artist statement or bioApplications missing required items will not be acceptedSelected artists will receive the first draft of the magazine issue for review prior to design finalization. 
Submission Fees
$12 for up to 4 images$20 for up to 10 images
Submission fees help compensate our staff for their hard work and cover the fees associated with running and promoting the magazine. There are no additional publication fees if selected.
