Description
The Art League of Baytown in Baytown, Texas is pleased to announce our first fall juried art exhibitionsponsored by the Port Houston Community Grant Program. The theme is “Art and the Ship Channel”. Oneof Port Houston’s key objectives is to add value in the communities where Port Houston operates, and strengthen the region served. The economic well-being, environmental health, and quality of life of the region are all of vital importance to Port Houston. Our priority Community Outreach art show will help with revitalizing communities, parks, and greenspaces with a focus on communities that are within three miles of the Ship Channel.
Awards totaling $2000.00 will be distributed to the winning artists.Best of Show -$300Honoree Award-$200Categories – 2-D, 3-D, Photography1 st Place - $175 2 nd Place - $150 3 rd Place - $1001 st Honorable Mention - $75

Entry Details:
Port Houston’s Community grant’s key objectives are to add value in the communities where Port Houston operates,and strengthen the region served. The economic well-being, environmental health, and quality of life of the region are all of vitalimportance to Port Houston. The source of inspiration for your art should come from public parks, greenspaces, andcommunities with public access within 3 miles of the ship channel waterways. Do Not enter private properties withoutpermission!
Entries will by judged on:
Visual Impact – overall impression and emotional impact of the artwork, including its ability to evoke feelings,thought, and responses from the viewer.Creativity/Originality – the creativity and originality of the artwork, including the artist’s unique vision andapproach to their work.Composition/Design – The harmonious arrangement of elements within the piece. The effective use of color andtexture to enhance the visual experience.Craftsmanship/Technical skill- technical skill demonstrated by the artists in their work, including their use ofmaterials craftsmanship, and attention to detail.Material usage – resourcefulness, diversity, sustainability – The degree to which the artwork promotesenvironmental awareness and responsible consumption.
Acceptable Artwork must be 100% created by the artist. A brief artist statement about the piece submitted isrequired and will be displayed with the artwork during the show. (May be edited for display purposes).
Artwork is not eligible if:
It is a copy of someone else’s art.Created from a copyrighted online photo or published image.Copied from AI generated art.
Submission Details:
Categories:
2 Dimensional (2D)- work can consist of oils, acrylics, tempera, watercolor, pencils, crayons, collage, or mixed media. All 2D artwork must be framed, wired and ready to hang. No sawtooth hangers allowed. Wrapped canvas can be unframed, but the sides must be painted. Finished size must not exceed 48 x 48 inches, including frame. 3 Dimensional (3D)- work must not exceed 40 pounds and fit through the door. It will be weighed at intake. Size cannot exceed 48 x 48 x 72 inches. All parts must be securely attached. If pieces fall off, it will not be displayed, or you will be asked to fix it yourself. We are not responsible for pieces that fall off. No live plants, liquid, hazardous materials, or works needing electricity will be accepted. Battery operated is acceptable, but please supply replacement batteries.
Photography - Photographs must be framed unless printed on canvas or metal and not to exceed 48 X 48 inches. It must be wired and ready to hang. No sawtooth hangers.
Entry Fees: $30 for first entry, $15 for second entry and $15 for a third entry.
