YOSN Art Series, Vol. 2: Type Design, Visual Poetry & Letterform Experiments is organized and presented by SparksGlo, a California-based design agency dedicated to turning unique visions into reality through innovative design solutions and strategic expertise.

The purpose of this open call is to showcase outstanding artworks and discover artists with strong creative voices, meaningful stories, and unique perspectives related to type design, visual poetry, letterform experiments, and calligraphy art. Selected works will be featured in our globally distributed e-magazine, YOSN Art Series, Vol. 2: Type Design, Visual Poetry & Letterform Experiments.

YOSN Art Series, Vol. 2: Type Design, Visual Poetry & Letterform Experiments is the second volume of the YOSN Art Series. YOSN stands for Young Mountain. It represents the spirit of staying passionate, ambitious, and creative despite life’s challenges, while also reflecting the power of the new generation. Artists from all around the world are welcome to submit their artworks.

What Selected Artists Will Receive:

1. Selected artworks will be featured in our international e-magazine.

2. Selected artists will receive an invitation to participate in an interview for the magazine. The interview will explore the stories behind their artworks and their perspectives on the theme “Type Design, Visual Poetry & Letterform Experiments”.

Open Call Theme:

Type is not simply a tool to express what we want to say. Its shape can also reflect the complex cultural backgrounds behind it.

Can you imagine how different type designs can influence a reader’s emotions?

Can you imagine how different letters can be arranged and combined into visual poetry?

Can you imagine how graphic elements can be grouped together to form a single letter or character, echoing the origins of pictographic characters in history?

Can you imagine how calligraphy art can be exaggerated and aesthetically pleasing?

This open call seeks artworks across four categories: type design, visual poetry, letterform experiments, and calligraphy art. Submissions can be anything, even a simple letter design, from any language or culture.

It’ll be a fun project. Use your imagination, and let’s play together.

Style Requirements:

All artistic styles are welcome. Both abstract and representational interpretations of the theme are accepted.

Please do not submit works that contain hateful or discriminatory content toward any group of people.
Submitted works must be suitable for digital display and provided as high-quality images. Please include a clear description of both your artwork and yourself.

Originality and AI:

All submitted artworks must be original works created entirely by the entrant. Entries must not copy or closely imitate copyrighted or previously published artworks, photographs, or other creative works.

All submitted artworks should be created entirely by you without the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including AI-generated or AI-assisted content, and that no part of the work was produced using AI technologies.

File Type: JPG or PNG
Color Mode: RGB
Resolution: 72–300 dpi
Maximum Pixel Dimension: 2400 px
Minimum Pixel Dimension: 1200 px

Publication Platforms and Timeline:

The publication is planned for release around the end of December. If there are delays, participants will be notified promptly.

YOSN Art Series, Vol. 2: Type Design, Visual Poetry & Letterform Experiments is planned to be distributed through platforms including Yumpu, Lulu, Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing, and additional platforms in the future.
