Description
The Heman Marion Sweatt Monument Project (HMSMP) is a non-profit organization, dedicated to erecting monuments of our heroes. Spearheaded by Texas Southern University (TSU) alumni, the HMSMP Board of Directors is collaborating with artists and non-profit arts organizations, individual donors, and other community stakeholders to gift the university a monument to Heman Marion Sweatt and the founding of Texas Southern University. The organizing theme of Phase I of the project is “The House that Sweatt Built,” and the monument will be the first in a series the group plans to erect on the TSU campus.
