PRESSFEST: Open Call for Mural Painting

Description

As one of the PRESSFEST activities, TYPA is looking to invite a street artist to create a mural on the Samelin factory wall! The mural painting would take place on the 29th of August, 2026.

Everyone is welcome to apply - we will be happy to see projects from Estonian and foreign artists alike, with different backgrounds and levels of experience. It is also possible to participate as a team/collective.

We are looking for projects that would:

fit within the designated space (~ 6,5m x 4m, from the left until the window)
be completed in 24 hours starting at 12 AM on 29.08
explore the topics of print making, print history and machines, bookbinding or paper making and paper art, anything related to the TYPA museum space!
It is also possible to have an opening event for the mural as part of the PRESSFEST schedule!

Share your ideas and the TYPA team will choose their favourite!

Your application should contain a short bio, a portfolio/examples of previous works and a visualisation or conception of the mural idea (it doesn’t have to be polished!). The application form closes on 2nd of August and the results of the open call will be announced on the 10th of August.

A selected artist/group of artists will receive a stipend of 600 euros in total. The stipend has to cover the artist fee as well as the materials or other expenses (including accommodation).

NB! It is the artist’s responsibility to take care of their own safety.
