JURIED EXHIBITION - “Holding Space” – A National Juried Exhibition Focused on the Lidded Jar?
STUDIO & GALLERY- Durango, Colorado?

Studio & Gallery is pleased to announce an opportunity for regional and national artists. We are?seeking submissions for a Juried Exhibition with the theme “Holding Space”, asking artists to explore interpretations of the lidded jar and submit up to four pieces for consideration.?
This exhibition celebrates the enduring concept of containment in the ceramic arts, both literal and metaphorical. Open to any ceramic lidded form that “holds space”. From traditional to innovative interpretations, we are seeking work that emphasizes good craftsmanship, material exploration, & thoughtful consideration.

AWARDS:?Cash prizes will be awarded: $300 Best of Show, $100 Second Place, and $50 People’s?Choice Award. Best of Show and Second Place winners will be announced at 6:30 pm on August 15th, during the opening reception of the exhibit. People’s Choice winner will be announced at the end of the exhibit. In addition, there will be three honorable mentions given.??

JUROR:.?Born and raised in Colorado, Adam Field earned his BA in art from Fort Lewis College. For two years, he immersed himself in the culturally rich art scene of the San Francisco Bay Area, where he began his full-time studio practice. From there, he relocated to Maui, where he established a thriving studio business. He spent most of 2008 in Icheon, South Korea, studying traditional Korean pottery making techniques under 6th generation Onggi master Kim Ill Maan. In 2013 he created and premiered HIDE-N-SEEKAH at the NCECA conference in Houston, TX. After maintaining his studio in Durango, CO for 5 years, Adam moved to Helena, MT in 2013 where he was a long-term resident artist at the Archie Bray Foundation for Ceramic Arts. Adam is now a full-time studio potter in Helena, MT. His Works are included in private collections and kitchen cabinets internationally.

ELIGIBILITY:?Open to all ceramic artists, 18 years and older, currently living and working in the USA (return of unsold work to USA addresses only) All Artwork submissions must be under 24 inches in any direction and less than 50 pounds. Artwork must be created with at least 50% clay. Work must have been created within the last two years. All work must be ready to display upon arrival to the gallery, including any special instructions. Studio & Gallery reserves the right to refuse any work. Compositions from published material and works considered to be reproductions may be rejected at any time. ALL SUBMITTED WORK MUST BE FOR SALE.

ENTRY CRITERIA AND SUBMISSION PROCESS:?• Send your entry by email to http://holding.space.durango@gmail.com with “Juried Show” in the subject line.?• In the body of your email, include:?1) Your name, mailing address, email address, phone number and how you paid the entry fee.?2) A list of the artworks you are submitting, including title, size, medium, price, and date of completion.?• Attach JPEG images only of each piece you are submitting. You may submit up to four artworks for consideration, and may include up to two (2) images per piece.?Name image files as follows: Title_Medium_size.jpg.?Images must be no larger than 1MB in size.??By submitting an entry to this exhibit, the artist warrants and represents that his or her artwork is the artist’s original work, and does not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity.??ENTRY FEE:?• Submit applicable entry fee as listed below (please put your name in the note)?-Venmo: @StudioAnd-Gallery?-Pay with check. Studio & Gallery is a?800 sq ft gallery and space is limited, keep that in mind when submitting large pieces. Studio & and the juror reserve the right to refuse any piece of artwork for any reason.??CALENDAR:?•MONDAY, June 30th, 2025 - Deadline to submit artworks. See Submission Guidelines below.?•FRIDAY, July 18th, Notification of accepted and non-accepted work.?•THURSDAY, August 14th, In-person drop off of accepted work to Studio & Gallery, 1027 Main Avenue,?Durango, CO, 81301, between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm.?•FRIDAY, August 15th, Opening Reception for exhibit, Studio & Gallery, 5:00 - 9:00 pm.? Winners announced at 6:30 pm.?•MONDAY, August 25th, Pick up of unsold work from Studio & Gallery between 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.?•Unsold artwork which needs to be shipped back will be packaged and sent the week of August 25th.??Shipped Work:?If you are shipping your work to the gallery, it must be received no later than TUESDAY, August 12th, 2025 by 5pm. Artist must include adequate packaging material for the repacking and return of unsold artwork, as well as a pre-paid return shipping label. Studio & Gallery is not responsible for the cost or insuring of shipped artwork to and from the gallery.

INSURANCE:?Studio & Gallery is not responsible for the loss or damage of artwork during travel to or from the?Gallery. Works will be insured by Studio & Gallery for the duration of the exhibit. Coverage will not exceed $3000, and works priced above this limit are the artist’s liability.??SALES AND COMMISSION:?Sales will be encouraged during the exhibit. Studio & will retain a 50% commission on all works sold.??PAYMENT OF SOLD WORK/PRIZES:?Artist payments from works sold during the exhibit, as well as any prizes awarded, will be mailed or ready for pickup at the gallery within 15 days following the end of the exhibit.??LICENSE:?By submitting images, you are granting Studio & Gallery the perpetual right to use your image(s) for promotional purposes, and when possible, Studio & Gallery will credit the artist in any postings.
