Description

Georgetown Heritage Arts is a recently created program to develop more arts and culture programming in one of D.C.’s most historic neighborhoods. Our goal is to amplify the neighborhood’s history, enlivens its public spaces and develop it as a nationally recognized destination for arts and cultural experiences—fostering connection, belonging, and civic pride. Georgetown is renowned for its beautiful and charming architecture, and world class shopping and dining, but we’ve also mapped over 50 existing ways to experience arts and culture in Georgetown, through its galleries, heritage sites, educational institutions, venues, embassies, and public art. View our map here: https://www.georgetownheritage.org/arts-map.

As we develop the Arts program, we are inviting artists and creative practitioners to submit conceptual proposals for new, temporary public art installations to take place in calendar year 2027 and beyond, contingent on grant and donor funding. The first round of concept proposals is due on March 6, 2026. From there, finalists will be selected to move on to final design and details, for submission to Georgetown Heritage’s summer grant applications for public art funding.
