Exhibition Overview: "One Square Mile: My Neighborhood"
Exhibition on display: September 30, 2021 - January 9, 2022

Artists are challenged to illustrate subjects within their own “one square mile” in a square (or cubical) format. Current times have offered a multitude of opportunities for exploring neighborhoods close to home. Perhaps there are micro areas never noticed before or recent changes in the neighborhood. Or perhaps now personal interactions in our community are important. The museum looks forward to your square contribution! Entries will be taken online in the month of July on CAM’s website.
Artwork guidelines:
? Original fine art. At time of online entry, artists submit a digital image (1 - 3MB in size) of their artwork with a brief statement about it. Up to two entries may be made by each artist. For artists that are submitting artwork no larger than 16” in any dimension, three entries may be made at no extra cost (beyond the usual two).
? Framed/finished artwork is to be in a square format, no larger than 28” in any dimension.
? Accepted 2-D works must be presented ready for installation with painted or framed edges and fitted with hanging wire or D-rings. (Sawtooth hangers are not acceptable.) Accepted 3-D work must stand on its own if not mounted to a base.
? Not previously publicly displayed within a 60-mile radius of Cedarburg, WI.
? Artists have the option to sell exhibited work during the exhibition. CAM retains 35% commission.

Eligibility: Open to artists 18 years and older who create works of original concept, design, and execution.

Awards: $1,000 in awards will be given to Best of Show, Second and Third place, and three Honorable Mentions. Juror will use criteria of Fitting to Theme, Originality, and Expertise with Medium for entries.

Juror: Our 2021 juror is Evelyn Patricia Terry. Terry earned BFA and MS degrees in fine arts at UW-Milwaukee and the MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her various roles have included being a full-time artist/printmaker, an arts advocate, gallery owner, arts writer, lecturer, and exhibition curator. Her artwork is in many museum, university, and corporate collections in the USA.

Important Dates

July 1 – July 31, 2021: Preferred online application submission is at cedarburgartmuseum.org/jury. July 31 is the final date for receiving submissions.
? Nonrefundable online entry fee is $15 per artwork. Limit is two artwork entries per artist, unless all finished/framed entries will be 16” or less in any direction. In that case, a third artwork may be submitted at no extra charge over $30 total.
? With entry fee, submit digital image of original artwork and brief artist statement (75 words or less) with each online entry.
? 3-D artwork entry: one additional detail image per work may be sent to registrar@cedarburgartmuseum.org.
Alternative, email entry: Contact registrar@cedarburgartmuseum.org with subject “One Square Mile.” Entry fee is $20 per artwork for email submissions. Check for fee payable to Cedarburg Art Museum must be received by deadline at Registrar, Cedarburg Art Museum, W63N675 Washington Avenue, Cedarburg, WI 53012.

A maximum of 100 artist applications will be processed. Approximately 68 artworks can be displayed in our 2021 spaces.

August 25, 2021: Artists will be notified by email of Jurors’ decision. If you have not received an acknowledgment by this date, please contact registrar@cedarburgartmuseum.org.

Wednesday, September 22, 12 – 4pm and Saturday, September 25, 12 – 4pm: Artwork Delivery Dates

? Artwork is to be delivered at the specified times. If artwork is shipped to the museum, it must arrive no later than September 24, with a prepaid return shipping label for FedEx or UPS provided.

Saturday, October 2, 2021: Exhibition Opening Reception (possibly in outdoor courtyard) with awards for artists, 2 - 4pm.

Monday or Tuesday, January 10 or 11, 2022, 11am-3pm: Artwork Pickup Dates
*Sold artworks may be picked up by buyers on Saturday, December 18, 2021, 3 – 4pm, if needed for gift giving by buyers.
