Call for Artwork Submissions

The Bountiful Davis Art Center Statewide Annual (BDAC SWA) is a competitive juried exhibition showcasing the exceptional creativity and promise of Utah’s emerging artists. Open to early-career artists and current BFA or MFA students, this exhibition highlights the vibrant talent shaping the future of art and art making.
This exhibition showcases a wide array of artistic disciplines, from traditional paintings and sculptures to innovative installations and new media works. Each year the BDAC selects a guest juror to curate the exhibition and award the three strongest pieces. Jorge Rojas and TBD are our 2025 jurors and unrestricted cash awards will be given. Note that the 2025 best in show artist will be offered a solo exhibition at BDAC in 2026.
The preliminary round is ONLINE ONLY. Artists accepted into the exhibition will be notified by August 4, 2025. Accepted artists will be asked to bring their work in person to the BDAC. The jurors will then select award winners from the accepted pieces.
HOW TO APPLY
Before submitting artwork, each artist is required to set-up a profile with ArtCall.org. Click on the Register and Apply button to create your account and submit your artwork. You are able to attach up to three (3) images of each artwork. The first image you attach will be the primary image the judge sees. Please create a separate submission application for additional artwork. With the $20 registration fee, each artist may submit up to three (3) pieces.  
Applications must include the following:
Artist Statement: 350 - 500 words
Artist Bio: 100-200 words
High Resolution Images: 1-3 high resolution images of your piece (1500 px on the longest side, 10MB max per image)
Entry registration fee: $20 (All fees are non-refundable.)
Works must be original, completed within the past two years and never before exhibited at the BDAC. All selected entries must be dropped off dry, suitably framed, and ready for hanging/installation. (2-D works must have D-rings and wire.) Works that do not fit these criteria may not be accepted. Please label all artwork with the artist’s name and title. Art in any media is welcome: painting, photography, sculpture, installation, printmaking, new media work, etc.

Applications open: June 17, 2025
Applications close: July 17, 2025 (at 11:59 pm)
Artists are notified: August 4, 2025 (via email)
Artwork drop-off for accepted artist only: August 16 from noon to 5 pm and August 19 from 10 am to 6 pm.
Exhibit on view: August 29 - November 07, 2025
Opening reception: Friday, August 29, 2025 @ 6-8pm. Awards announced at 7pm. Family and friends are welcome.

About the Jurors:
Jorge Rojas (b. Morelos, Mexico) is a recognized curator, artist, performer, and museum educator based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Since 2009, his curatorial projects have been exhibited nationally in museums, galleries, and community spaces. Rojas’s experience as an artist and educator often intersects his interests as a curator, making exhibitions reflecting on issues of interpretation, institutional critique, social and racial justice, and the role of cultural and mediated forms of communication. He has dedicated the majority of his curatorial practice to promoting, nurturing and cultivating the vision and diverse talents of emerging and mid-career BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and immigrant artists.
