2026 BMFA Juried Photo Show
Calling all Ontario Photographers
Welcome to the 2026 BMFA Juried Photo Show, this year is the 34th year that this show is running. We are excited this year to entertain submissions in 2 photography categories. Our Heritage Properties and Landmarks category is back for a 3rd year, we are looking forward to seeing photos of properties and landscape locations that have been in the community for over 50 years. We also have our traditional Open category that has been part of the show for over 30 years.
Submissions are open beween June 1, 2026 and July 18, 2026. A maximum of 3 entries are permitted for the show across both the Heritage and Open categories. Adults and Students, including ones in College and University and living in Ontario can submit entries to the show. The cost per entry is $ 25.00, if you are a BMFA Member please use promo code "Member" and your entry price will be discounted to $ 15.00 per submission that is a 40% discount. Students please use promo code "Student", and your entry fees will be discounted to $ 0.00 (Free).
Students (including college and university students), are encouraged to enter photos taken on their phones. No expensive photo equipment is necessary to participate in this show. Students that have been accepted into the Gallery Show must print their photo. Students will receive a 20% discount on printing from Gabriele Photography located at 133 Hurontario St in Collingwood, by presenting their acceptance email to the Gallery Show.
All entries will be juried and judges notes will be available for viewing once the jury processis complete and entrants informed of the results.
Photos will be accepted into a Gallery Show based on Juror scores. The Gallery show will be held at 65 Simcoe St. and there will also be an online Gallery Show.

Heritage Property and Landmark Category Details
Under this category, photographers may submit photographs of structures or natural places which helps to show the history and culture of the diverse Georgian Triangle (Bruce, Grey, Simcoe). Structures could include houses and other dwellings, factories, barns, schools, public buildings, churches, boathouses, shed, etc. Landscapes could include parks, cemeteries, waterways, vistas, ancient hunting grounds, and areas of spiritual or religious significance.
Both exterior and interior photos can be submitted. Photographs of specific features of a heritage property will be accepted - such as a stained glass window, a door, a school bell or a church organ as long as the photographer can connect it to the property's history.
Landmarks should also be connected to the Georgian Triangles' multi-faceted history and can show structures, or remnants of buildings or other built heritage. Landmarks can also be connected to spiritual or religious significance; to places related to legends, lore and celebratory activities; or to environments of a sacred nature. Photographs of historic trees, gardens, parks, historical trails or other natural heritage landscapes can be submitted.
Photographers must provide a brief description (maximum 50 words) of how the subject of their photograph/s relate to the history of the Georgian Triangle.
Open Category Details
Photographs of any subject may be submitted. Submissions must adhere in appearance and in fact to the norms of civil discourse. In other words, all submissions must be suitable for a global public audience.
Photograph Guidelines
All photographs entered must be created by a camera, whether film, digital, cell phone or tablet. No artificially generated (AI) images are allowed, and no use of artifically (AI) fill is allowed in post production. Any use of these tools will automatically disqualify the entry from the competition. Gallery Show Entry Guidelines;
Adult Entries;a) Photos printed on photo paper should be submitted on plain black or white frames with pure white mats with a minimum mat dimension of 1.5 inches.b) The overall exterior dimensions must be between 252-576 square inches, with no dimension more than 36”c) Photos printed on canvas, acrylic, metal or wood, framed or not, with proper hangars will also be acceptedd) Framed Photos MUST have two D-rings and a hanging wire. Frames with sawtooth hanges will not be accepted.
Student Entries;a) Images may be framed with or without a mat.b) Minimum size should be 8” x 10”, Maximum size 576 square inches.
