2025 STUDIOS ON HIGH HIT THE HOP SHOW SUBMISSION PROSPECTUS
 
About the Hit the Hop Show
Located in the Short North Arts District since 1987, Studios on High Gallery is the oldest artist owned and operated gallery in Columbus Ohio. Each year the gallery presents Hit the Hop, our annual, open call, juried exhibition open to Ohio artists. Accepted artists will be featured in a month-long group show, gallery hop and an artist’s opening.
This year’s show will be held from March 1 - April 3.  A $500 first prize , a $200 second prize and  a $100 People’s Choice prize will be announced at the artist opening on March 2nd. 
This year’s theme is Happiness Is…. Artists are invited to submit work that best interprets the themes of happiness and peace of mind, expressed through the things you see, experience, and the creative process itself. We welcome all mediums and styles.
Please read the guidelines carefully to insure your ability to meet these requirements.
Guidelines

Original two-dimensional and three-dimensional visual art works, including photography, will be considered. Please keep in mind the theme of the show.
Work must be completed within the last 3 years.
Dimensions and weight limits: 2D artworks will not exceed 25” in length or width (including the frame). 3D artworks will not exceed 40 lbs. 
Only JPG (jpeg) images will be accepted. 
There is a $35 entry fee for up to two (2) works. Fees are due at time of submission and are non-refundable.
Entry fee payment does not guarantee acceptance into the Hit the Hop exhibition.

All entries are due by 11:59PM on February 8, 2025. No exceptions will be made.
Acceptance, non-acceptance notifications will be sent via email on or before February 19, 2025 unless otherwise determined.
All accepted work must remain at Studios on High Gallery for the entirety of the art show and remain as it is presented upon submission and delivery. 
Studios on High Gallery Hit the Hop Committee maintains the right to reject any work that differs from the corresponding entry information or that fails to maintain the exhibit's standards.
Hit the Hop is an event for all ages. Age-inappropriate submissions will not be accepted, and no refunds will be made.
Studios on High Gallery reserves the right to reproduce images of accepted work for promotional purposes of the Hit the Hop exhibition in perpetuity.
Studios on High Gallery will handle artwork with the greatest of care. However, insurance, if desired for shipping, exhibition or any other reason, is the responsibility of the individual artist. Studios on High Gallery will not be liable for loss or damage to any work submitted to this art show. 
Accepted artists are responsible for shipping artwork if sold.
All artwork must be for sale.
Studios on High Gallery takes 25% commission of the listed price from the artist for work sold.
Artists will be paid for sold artwork at the conclusion of the show.
If the artist sells the accepted artwork outside of the gallery during the exhibition, the artist is responsible for paying the gallery 25% of the listed gallery price.
Artists are responsible for the payment of any and all applicable taxes.
By choosing to submit art to the show for consideration you are acknowledging and agreeing to the above guidelines.
 

Delivery/Return

Accepted works should be HAND-DELIVERED to Studios on High Gallery (686 North High St., Columbus Ohio 43215) February 27 - 28, 2025 between 12pm and 5pm.  Please note: All 2D work must be framed and ready to install upon delivery with hanging wire. If a piece is not framed, it must be on gallery wrapped canvas (at least 1” in depth with no visible staples and the sides painted). 
Artists are responsible for picking up their works on April 4th, 2025 between 12-5pm or by appointment after the close of the show. Artwork may not be removed prior to the conclusion of the exhibit.
