Description

The 2023 Small Works exhibition at the Charles H. Taylor Visual Arts Center is a juried exhibition open to all Hampton regional and Virginia artists. Awards are given for First ($200), Second ($150) and Third ($100) Places along with five Awards of Merit in two categories, Small Works and Miniatures. Artists are invited to submit up to six artworks total for consideration. Two-dimensional artworks must be no larger than 8 x 10 inches (INCLUDING FRAME). Three-dimensional works must be no larger than 8 inches on any side. 2D artworks smaller than 20 square inches and 3D artworks smaller than 5 inches cubed are considered “Miniatures”. Open to all media. The entry fee is $30 for up to six artworks. Submit online with Entrythingy at www.entrythingy.com/d=hamptonarts.net. The submission deadline is Monday, October 30th at 11:59pm Because the exhibition runs through the holidays, artworks selected to be included in the exhibition that are for sale may be removed at the time of purchase during the exhibition. Notification to artists will be sent by email by end of day November 4th. Small Works Size Guidelines - • 2D Maximum artwork size is 8 x 10” (INCLUDING FRAME) • 3D Maximum artwork size not to exceed 8” on any side or diameter • 2D/3D artworks that exceed the size parameters will NOT be accepted Artwork delivery dates for accepted artworks are November 6 – 11 from 10:30am – 5:30pm. Artists shipping their work must include or email a return shipping label for their artwork. The deadline for shipped work is November 11th. Calendar - Exhibition Dates: December 2, 2023 – January 13, 2024 Submission deadline: Monday, October 30 Notification to artists: November 4 Artwork Drop-Off: November 6 – November 11 Artwork Pick-Up: January 15 – January 20, 2024 10:30am – 5:30pm Artwork Sales: The sale price on your entries should include a 40% gallery commission. Works may be NFS. Hampton Arts will collect the 6% Virginia State Sales Tax on sales from the buyer at the time of purchase. Insurance: From the time of delivery until the end of designated pick up dates, artworks will be insured by the City of Hampton in an amount up to and not exceeding $2,000, regardless of the sales price. Artworks that are NFS will only be insured up to that maximum amount. Artists are responsible for providing self-insurance for any amount of valuation over $2,000. By submission of artworks to the exhibition, artists acknowledges that the City of Hampton, Charles H. Taylor Visual Arts Center, Hampton Coliseum/Hampton Arts Commission and Hampton Arts Foundation liability is limited to $2,000.
