Description

The Works Art & Design Festival is the largest free, outdoor art and design festival in North America. Since The Works’ first festival in 1986, over 7 million visitors have experienced more than 16,000 artists and designers from every continent, in 1,300 exhibits in and around Edmonton’s downtown.

The Works Art and Design Festival is seeking Major Project applications for temporary works or installations to animate Sir Winston Churchill Square and other public spaces in Edmonton for the 2022 festival scheduled June 23-July 5. Major Projects are considered impactful and memorable anchors of the festival. Applications are open to artists across Canada. The Works is dedicated to accessibility, inclusion, interactivity, and socially engaged practice. Equity funding is available for eligible projects. Applicants seeking funding are encouraged to express interest to The Works’ Curatorial Department (curatorial@theworks.ab.ca) prior to January 21.
