Description

Marshall University’s School of Art & Design is pleased to invite artists to submit entries for the 13th Annual National Juried Exhibition. Accepted works will be exhibited at Marshall University’s Charles W. and Norma C. Carroll Gallery in downtown Huntington, West Virginia from January 8 to February 2, 2024.

ELIGIBILITY
This call is open to artists nationwide. Submit up to three entries of works in any media. Artwork previously displayed in Marshall University’s art galleries will not be considered.

JUROR
This year’s juror, Taekyeom Lee, is an educator and multidisciplinary designer using artist materials and artistic sensibility. Lee earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Keimyung University, South Korea, and a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. Since graduating, Lee has been invited to exhibit his work nationally and internationally and has presented conferences including ATypl (Association Typographique Internationale), ISEA (International Symposium on Electronic Art), TypeCon, AIGA DEC (Design Educators Community), IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Visualization, and NCECA (National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts). Currently, Taekyeom Lee is an Associate Professor of Graphic Design at the University of Wisconsin-Madison while continuing research on emerging technologies application in design and artistic practice.

SUBMISSIONS
Artists may submit up to three artworks.
All entries must be submitted using the online entry form.
Entry Fee: General public: $30, up to three entries.
Marshall University students: $15, up to three entries.
Submission Deadline, 11:59 p.m. EST, October 27, 2023.
All works will be juried from the files submitted. The juror’s selections are final.

Artists will be directed to a secure online payment portal upon submitting artworks.

TERMS & CONDITIONS
Submitting an entry to this exhibition constitutes an agreement on the part of the artist with all conditions of this prospectus. No work accepted for the exhibition may be withdrawn before the close of the exhibition. The School of Art & Design reserves the right to refuse any entry if, upon arrival, the work is found unacceptable or significantly different than the representation submitted.

INSURANCE & LIABILITY
The School of Art & Design will exercise every possible care in the safekeeping of artwork loans in its possession, but its liability to lenders is limited. Artists whose work is accepted will complete an Art Loan Agreement that outlines any liability assigned to Marshall University.

SHIPPING & DELIVERY
The artist is responsible for all delivery related costs and insurance of artwork while in transit to and from the gallery.
