Description
**Hardy & Nance Studios is pleased to announce our Call for Entries for the "100th Anniversary Surrealism Juried Art Show" that will be on display Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 5-9pm. This call for entries is open to all artists living and working in Houston or its surrounding areas up to 50 miles in 2D & 3D media and cash prizes will be awarded for outstanding work.**
October 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the Surrealist Manifesto by André Breton which encapsulated the thought processes of many artists including Salvidor Dali, Rene Magritte, Frida Kahlo and Dorothea Tanning. Thanks to the Menil Collection and historic art shows such as the “The Heroic Century” at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, many Houstonians are familiar with the characteristics of Surrealism. The Hardy & Nance Studios is honored to host a celebration of this art style and juried art competition.
THEME: Surrealism; ie. Dreamlike scenes and/or symbolic imagery, unexpected and/or illogical juxtapositions, automation, bizarre assemblages of ordinary objects, and distorted figures and biomorphic shapes.
***ALL ARTWORK MUST BE THE ORIGINAL WORK OF THE ARTIST, ABSOLUTELY NO A.I. ART.***
***ARTWORK THAT REFERENCES MASTERWORKS OF SURREALISM MUST INCLUDE THE NAME OF THE ARTIST AND ARTWORK WITHIN THE TITLE.***
The medium for this show will be limited to painting, drawing, photography and sculpture. Digital Art must disclose which programs were used to create/manipulate images. No loose glitter or confetti. If using these mediums, they must be completely adhered to the surface in a manner that it will not fall off. We will not accept artworks made with bodily fluids.
